Clancy Medley (Performed by Ensemble)

(DANIEL)
I'll tell me ma when I get home
The boys won't leave the girls alone
They pulled my hair and stole my comb
But that's alright til I go home
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city
She is a courtin', 1-2-3
Please won't you tell me who is she?
Let the wind and the rain and the hail go high
The snow come tumblin' from the sky
She's as sweet as apple pie
And she'll get her own lad by and by
When she gets a lad of her own
She won't tell her ma when she gets home
Let them all come as they will
For it's Albert Mooney she loves still

(NEIL)
Come single belle or beau
Unto me pay attention
EMMET
Don't ever fall in love
It's the devil's own invention
KEITH
For once I fell in love
With a lady so bewitchin'
Miss Henrietta Bell out in Captain Kelly's kitchen
(ALL)
With me toora-loora-la, and me toora-loora-laddie
And me toora-loora-la, and me toora-loora-laddie

NEIL
She slipped up to her room
She said: "Good Lord Almighty!"
EMMET
She came back down the stairs
Wearing nothing but her nightie
KEITH
With her arms around me waist,
she slyly hinted marriage
KEITH/DANIEL
When to the doors in haste came Captain Kelly's carriage
ALL
Sing (4x)
Sing toora-loora-la, sing toora-loora-laddie
And me toora-loora-la, and me toora-loora-laddie

KEITH
On the fourth of July, 1806
We set sail from the sweet cove of Cork
EMMET
We were sailing away with a cargo of bricks
For the grand city hall in New York
NEIL
It was a wonderful craft
She was rigged fore and aft
And oh how the wild winds drove her
KEITH
She's got several blasts
She had 27 masts
ALL
And they called her the Irish Rover.

GEORGE
We had sailed seven years when the measles broke out
And the ship lost its way in the fog
RYAN
And the whale of a crew was reduced down to two.
Just meself and the captain's old dog.
EMMET
Then the ship struck a rock
Oh Lord, what a shock
The bulkhead was turned right over
KEITH
Turned nine times around
And the poor old dog was drowned
One two three!
ALL
I'm the last of the Irish Rover!

Love this song!

I love this song. I think they do a great job on both versions, but does anyone know why they changed the lyrics?

Hello SBS

The first part of this song is sung by Damian, not Emmet (on the video it is Emmett, cause he sang for Damo that day)
Emmet's line is "high life" and Neil does say "Dinah"

Now on to what I think about this song Tongue
I LOVE this song, I really enjoyed seeing them do it on QVC that day, also it was a treat to see if I could pick which line was Emmet's and which was Damian's (I got it RIGHT!) I knew because Emmet totally dominated his line, He really owned it, and as it turns out his lines are my fave, Damian's after, then Neil & so on, & so on.

I think that this was a perfect song for CT to do, I'm still not sure about "Galway Girl" so right now it beats that one out lol

For "Holy Ground" in the chorus, do they say "Fine letters" or "My letters"?

Thanks SBS for posting this, you are all correct on the rest of this from what I can tell Laughing out loud
