Black Is The Colour (Performed by Ryan Kelly)

Black is the colour of my true love's hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She`s got the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands.

I love my love, and well she knows
I love the ground whereon she goes
I wish the day, it soon would come
When she and I could be as one.

For black is the colour of my true love's hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She`s got the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands

I go to the Clyde, and I mourn and weep
For satisfied I never can be
Then I write her a letter, just a few short lines
And suffer death a thousand times.

For black is the colour of my true love's hair
Her lips are like red roses fair
She`s got the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands.

For black is the colour of my true love's hair
Her lips are like red roses fair
She`s got the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands
For black is the color of my true love's hair.

This may seem a strange question, but...

Does anybody know what type of whistle Joanna is playing toward the end of this song? (As shown on the DVD.) I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find its likeness as it does not appear to be a Tin Whistle and it doesn't seem thick enough to be a Recorder. Help is greatly appreciated. Sláinte!

Like you, I am not certain what Joanna is playing at then end of the song. It doesn't look like a tin whistle - looks more like a recorder. You are probably comparing it to an alto recorder. It looks more like a soprano or even sopranino recorder. Check online for images of soprano and sopranino recorders to see if you agree.
