A Bird Without WingsChorus:
Like a bird without wings
That longs to be flying,
Like a motherless child
Left lonely and crying.
Like a song without words,
Like a world without music,
I wouldn’t know what to do
I’d be lost without you
Watchin’ over me.
Verse 1:
I get so lonely, when you’re away
I count every moment, I wait every day,
Until you’re home again
And hug me so tight
That’s when I know
Everything is alright.
Chorus:
Like a bird without wings
That longs to be flying,
Like a motherless child
Left lonely and crying.
Like a song without words
Like a world without music,
I wouldn’t know what to do
I’d be lost without you
Watchin’ over me.
Verse 2:
You’re my guardian angel
My light and my guide
Your hand on my shoulder
And you by my side.
You make everything beautiful,
You make me complete.
Everything in my world
I lay at your feet..
Bridge:
Like a church with no steeple,
Where a bell never rings.
In a town without people,
Where no voice in the choir ever sings.
If a boat on the ocean
Would be lost with no sail,
Then without your devotion
Surely all that I dreamed of would fail.

Brothers In ArmsThese mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Someday you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms
Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms
There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
We have just one world
But we live in different ones
Now the sun's gone to hell
And, the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the star light
And every line on your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms.
In these last few days, I’ve been afraid, that I might drift away
I’ve been tellin’ stories, singing songs
That made me think about where I’ve come from
And that’s the reason why I seem so far away today.
Let me tell you that I love you
And I think about you all the time
Caledonia, you’re calling me, now I’m goin’ home
But if I should become a stranger
Know that it would make me more than sad
Caledonia’s been everything I’ve ever had.
I have moved, and I’ve kept on movin’
Proved the points that I needed provin’
I Lost the friends that I needed losin’
Found others on the way.
I’ve kissed the girls and left them crying
Stolen dreams, yes there’s no denying
I ‘ve traveled hard sometimes with conscience flyin’
Somewhere in the wind
Let me tell you that I love you
And I think about you all the time
Caledonia you’re calling me, now I’m goin’ home
But if I should become a stranger
Know that it would make me more than sad
Caledonia’s been everything I’ve ever had.
Let me tell you that I love you
And I think about you all the time
Caledonia you’re calling me, now I’m goin’ home
But if I should become a stranger
Know that it would make me more than sad
Caledonia’s been everything I’ve ever had.
Castles in the air
That I'm tired of castles in the air
I've got a dream I want the world to share
And castle walls just lead me to despair
Hills of forest green where the mountains touch the sky
A dream come true, I'll live there 'til I die
I'm asking you to say my last goodbye
The love we knew ain't worth another try
Save me from all the trouble and the pain
I know I'm weak but I can't face that girl again
Tell her the reasons why I can't remain
Perhaps she'll understand if you tell it to her plain
But how can words express the feel of sunlight in the morning
In the hills away from city strife
I need a country woman for my wife
I'm city born but I love the country life
For I cannot be part of this "Cocktail-Generation Partner's Waltz,"
Devoid of all romance
The music plays and everyone must dance
I'm bowing out, and I need a second chance
Save me from all the trouble and the pain
I know I'm weak but I can't face that girl again
Tell her the reasons why I can't remain
Perhaps she'll understand if you tell it to her plain
And if she asks you why, you can tell her that I told you
That I'm tired of Castles in the Air
I've got a dream I want the world to share
And castle walls just lead me to despair.

Mhaigh Eo
Come by the hills to the land where fancy is free.
And stand where the peaks meet the sky and the loughs meet the sea,
Where the rivers run clear and the bracken is gold in the sun;
And the cares of tomorrow can wait till this day is done.
Come by the hills to the land where life is a song.
And stand where the birds fill the air with their joy all day long,
Where the trees sway in time and even the wind sings in tune;
And the cares of tomorrow can wait till this day is done.
Come by the hills to the land where legend remains.
The stories of old fill the hearts and may yet come again,
Where the past has been lost and the future is still to be won;
And the cares of tomorrow can wait till this day is done.
And the cares of tomorrow can wait till this day is done.
Translation of Gaelic verse:
I am a boy from Ireland and I'd coax a nice young girl, I
wouldn't ask for a dowry with her, I'm rich enough
myself, I own Cork, big as it is both sides of the glen and
Tyrone, And if I don't change my ways I'll be the heir for County Mayo.

Desperado
You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one
And I know that you’ve got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Could hurt you somehow
Don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet
Now it seems to me that some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get
Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone
Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day, yeah
Well you're losin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away, hey?
Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, and open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you,
You better let somebody love you before it's too late...
it’s too late.
Heartbreaker
That I just can’t help myself
That even though I know I should
I’m just too bad to be good.
They call me a romancer,
A chancer, a Gigilo
Who always have an alibi
Who kiss the girls and make them cry.
I never meant to hurt you
I never meant to break your heart in two.
I’m sorry if I hurt you
I’m sorry but it’s what I seem to do.
They call me a heartbreaker,
Nothing but a heartbreaker
They say I’m the dark destroyer
That I just can’t get enough
Of girls hanging on a string
That I’m only after one thing.
That I’m filled with desire
A liar, a Romeo
Like a bee in a honeycomb
Welcome to the pleasure dome
I never meant to hurt you
I never meant to break your heart in two
I’m sorry if I hurt you
I’m sorry but it’s what I seem to do
They call me a heartbreaker
Nothing but a heartbreaker
I just can’t live without it
The thrill of a woman's touch
It’s written in the stars above
I’m just addicted to love
But they all want to tame me,
To chain me and tie me down
Don’t they know I was born to be
Footloose and fancyfree
I never meant to hurt you
I never meant to break your heart in two
I’m sorry if I hurt you
I’m sorry but it’s what I seem to do.
They call me a heartbreaker
Nothing but a heartbreaker

I Wanna Know What Love Is
A little time to think things over
I better read between the lines
In case I need it when I’m older
Now this mountain I must climb
Feels like a world upon my shoulders
Through the clouds I see love shine
It keeps me warm as life grows colder
In my life there’s been heartache and pain
I don’t know if I can face it again
Can’t stop now, I’ve travelled so far
To change this lonely life
I wanna know what love is
And I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is
And I know you can show me
I’m gonna take a little time
A little time to look around me
Cause I’ve got nowhere left to hide
It looks like love has finally found me
In my life there’s been heartache and pain
I don’t know if I can face it again
Can’t stop now, I’ve travelled so far
To change this lonely life.
I wanna know what love is
And I want you to show me.
I wanna feel what love is
And I know you can show me.
I wanna know what love is
And I know you can show me.
I want to feel what love is
And I know you can show me
Wanna feel what love is.
Ireland's Call
Side by side, we stand like brothers
One for all and all together.
We will stay united through darker days
And we'll be unbeatable forever.
Chorus
Ireland, Ireland
Together, standing tall.
Shoulder to shoulder
We'll answer Ireland's call.
Come the day, and come the hour
Some will live in song and story
We were born to follow our guiding star
And to meet our destiny with glory
CHORUS
Hearts of steel and heads unbowing
Vowing never to be broken
We will fight until we can fight no more
Till our final requiem is spoken.
CHORUS
(Instrumental)
CHORUS
We'll answer Ireland's call.
Lauren & I
And see them lyin' all around,
Cause still I can't see you.
And there's the wind that plays in the air,
Flying around, how it does not care
Still I can't see you.
And the seasons pass away
And I still sit here lonely, each and every day,
Wonderin' what's gone wrong.
Cause I don't remember seasons lasting oh so long
Oh so long.
Chorus
And I still can't see you
And I still can't see you
And I still can't see you
Lauren and I
Lauren and I
And there's the stars way in the sky
Leading my way and I don't know where or why
Still I can't see you.
And when my back's against the wall
I see a reason for it all
But still I can't see you.
And I still can't see you
And I still can't see you
And I still can't see you
Lauren and I
Lauren and I
Lauren and I
Lauren and I
Mountains of Mourne
With people here working by day and by night
They don't sow potatoes, nor barley, nor wheat
But there's gangs of them diggin' for gold in the street
At least, when I asked them, that's what I was told
So I just took a hand at this diggin' for gold
But for all that I found there I might as well be
In the place where the dark Mourne sweep down to the sea.
There's beautiful girls here, Oh never you mind
Beautiful shapes nature never designed
Lovely complexions of rose and cream
But let me remark with regard to the same
That if at that those roses, you venture to sip
The colours might all come away on your lips
So I'll wait for the wild rose that's waitin' for me
In the place where the dark Mournes sweep down to the sea.
You remember young Davey McClarin of course
Well sure, now, he's round here with the rest of the force
I saw him one day as I was crossin’ the strand
And he stopped the whole street with a wave of his hand
And as we stood talkin’ of days that are gone
The whole town of London stood there to look on
But for all his great powers he's wishful like me
To be back where the dark Mournes sweep down to the sea
But for all his great powers he's wishful like me
To be back where the dark Mournes sweep down to the sea.
Mull of Kintyre
Oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here
Oh Mull of Kintyre
Far have I travelled and much have I seen
Dark distant mountains with valleys of green.
Past painted deserts, the sunsets on fire
As she carries me home to the Mull of Kintyre.
Mull of Kintyre
Oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here
Oh Mull of Kintyre
Sweep through the heather like deer in the glen
Carry me back to the days I knew then.
Nights when we sang like a heavenly choir
Of the life and the times of the Mull of Kintyre.
Mull of Kintyre
Mull of Kintyre
Mull of Kintyre
Mull of Kintyre
Oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here
Oh Mull of Kintyre
Mull of Kintyre
Oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here
Oh Mull of Kintyre
My Boy
But, really, this can't wait
I wanted to explain
Before it gets too late
For your mother and me
Love has finally died
This is no happy home
But God knows how I've tried
Because you're all I have, my boy
You are my life, my pride, my joy
And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy
I know, it's hard to understand
Why did we ever start?
We're more like strangers now
Each acting out a part
I have laughed, I have cried
I have lost every game
I’ve taken all I can take
But I'll stay just the same
Because you're all I have, my boy
You are my life, my pride, my joy
And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy
Sleep on, you haven't heard a word
Perhaps it's just as well
Why spoil your little dreams
Why put you through that hell
Life is no fairytale
As one day you will know
But now you're just a child
I'll stay here and watch you grow
Because you're all I have, my boy
You are my life, my pride, my joy
And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy
Because you're all I have, my boy
You are my life, my pride, my joy
And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy
My Boy
Nights In White Satin
Never reaching the end,
Letters I’ve written,
Never meaning to send.
Beauty I’d always missed
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is
I can’t say anymore.
Cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how I love you.
Gazing at people,
Some hand in hand,
Just what I’m going through
They can’t understand.
Some try to tell me
Thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be
You will be in the end,
And I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how I love you.
How I love you.
Cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how I love you.
How I love you.
Puppy Love
Oh, I guess they'll never know
How a young heart really feels
And why I love her so
And they called it puppy love
Just because we're in our teens
Tell them all, please tell them it isn't fair
To take away my only dream.
I cry each night, my tears for you
My tears are all in vain
I'll hope and I'll pray that maybe someday
You'll be back in my arms once again.
Someone, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above?
How can I, oh how can I tell them
This is not a puppy love?
Someone, help me, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above?
How can I, oh how can I tell them
This is not a puppy love?
Not a puppy love.
Raggle Taggle Gypsy
They came brave and boldly-o
One sang high and the other sang low
And the Lady sang the raggle taggle gypsy-o
It was upstairs and downstairs the lady went
Put on her suit of leather-o
T’was a cry all around the door
She’s away wi’ the raggle taggle gypsy-o
It was late that night when the lord came in
Enquiring for his lady-o
The servant girl replied to her lord
She’s away wi’ the raggle taggle gypsy-o
Oh then saddle for me my milk white steed
- my big horse is not speedy-o
I will ride and I’ll seek me bride
She’s away wi’ the raggle taggle gypsy-o
Then he rode east and he rode west
He rode north and south also
But when he rode to the wide open fields
It was there that he spied his lady-o

Remember me, Recuerdame
The campfire glows in the autumn breeze
and I am lost in my thoughts of you
Remember me, recuerda me
A comrade strums on a sad guitar
My mind is drifting to where you are
I’m holding you as I used to do
remember me, recuerda me, mi amor!
So long ago, so far away, each night I pray
"volvero los dias passoados"
I promise you that come what may
those days will stay ever in my memory
In all this world I could never find, the love that I had to leave behind
But duty calls, so whate'er befalls
remember me, recuerda me, mi amor
God only knows what tomorrow brings
You’re in my heart so my spirit sings
and I’ll be strong just as long as you remember me,
recuerda me, mi amor!
Love The Dearest
Yes, by yonder star I swear
Which through tears above thee
Shines so sadly fair
Thou, too, oft dimmed
With tears like him
Like him my truth will shine
And love thee, dearest, love thee
Yes – till death I’m thine.
Dormi amore dormi
Porta il fuore dove vuoi
Vola verso I sogni
Bella come sei
Tue sei per me la stella she
Per sempre brillera
E dormi amore dormi
E gia notte ormai
Dimmi amore dimmi
Che non te ne andrai mai piu
Quante notti insonni
Se mi manchi tu
Accanto a me le vuvole
Non torneranno mai
E sogna tutti I sogni
Che l’amore da
L’amore da
Ride On
Standing 16' one or two, with eyes wild and green
You ride the horse so well, hands light to the touch
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you,
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
When you ride into the night, without a trace behind
Run your claw along my gut, one last time
I turn to face an empty space, where you used to lie
I look for the spark that lights the night
Through a teardrop in your eye
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
She
A trace of pleasure or regret
Maybe my treasure or the price I have to pay
She may be the song the summer sings
May be the chill the autumn brings
May be a hundred different things
Within the measure of a day
She may be the beauty or the beast
May be the famine or the feast
May turn each day into a Heaven or a Hell
She may be the mirror of my dreams
A smile reflected in the stream
She may not be what she may seem
Inside her shell
She, who always seems so happy in a crowd
Whose eyes can be so private and so proud
No one's allowed to see them, when they cry
She may be the love that cannot hope to last
That comes to me from shadows in the past
And I’ll remember 'till the day I die
She maybe the reason I survive
The why and wherefore I'm alive
The one I care for through the rough and ready years
Me, I'll take the laughter and her tears
And make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I've got to be
The meaning of my life is
She
She
Oh, she....

Steal Away
No reason left to stay.
For me and you,
Let's start anew,
And darlin' steal away.
Ooooh, ooooh
Let's steal away and chase our dream,
And hope they never find us.
The deary days, the empty nights,
We'll leave them all behind us.
Ooooh, aaaaah
Steal away, let's steal away
No reason left to stay.
For me and you,
Let's start anew,
And darlin' steal away.
Oooooh.
We'll leave with just our memories,
And make a new beginning.
We have to choose,
To win or lose,
And it's time we started winning.
Mmmmm, aaaaah
Steal away, let's steal away,
No reason left to stay.
For me and you,
Let's start anew,
And darlin' steal away.
Steal away, let's steal away,
No reason left to stay.
For me and you,
Let's start anew,
And darlin' steal away.

That's A Woman
WOMAN,
SUCH A DELICATE CREATURE,
EV’RY FEATURE
NEEDS TO BE LOVED FROM THE START
BE TENDER
AND SHE’LL SURRENDER
OFFEND HER
AND SHE WILL HARDEN HER HEART
Ryan:
A DELICATE CREATURE IS SOMETHING SHE AIN’T
BETTER TAKE IT FROM ME, THAT’S A WOMAN
THAT ISN’T AN ANGEL, THAT ISN'T A SAINT
BETTER TAKE IT FROM ME, THAT’S A WOMAN
SHE KNOWS HOW TO PLEASE AND SHE KNOWS HOW TO PLAY
TAKE IT FROM ME, THAT’S A WOMAN
FORGET ‘TO HONOUR, LOVE AND OBEY’
SHE’LL TAKE YOU AND BREAK YOU
AND THROW YOU AWAY,
THAT’S A WOMAN, THAT’S A WOMAN.
SHE KNOW EVERY MOVE AND SHE KNOWS EVERY TRICK
TAKE IT FROM ME, THAT'S A WOMAN
HOW TO KILL WITH A WORD AND TO CUT TO THE QUICK
TAKE IT FROM ME, THAT’S A WOMAN
HOW TO LOOK THROUGH YOU AS IF YOU’RE NOT THERE
TAKE IT FROM ME, THAT’S A WOMAN.
HOW TO SAY ‘NO’ WITH A FLICK OF HER HAIR,
SHE’LL TURN YOU AND BURN YOU AND NOT EVEN CARE.
THAT’S A WOMAN, THAT’S A WOMAN.
Paul:
FAITHFUL AND TRUE, THAT’S A WOMAN
TRUSTING IN YOU, THAT’S A WOMAN
GENTLE AND CONSTANTLY CARING
STRONG AS THE LOVE SHE IS SHARING
WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE EYES OF A WOMAN
Ryan:
LOOK IN HER EYES YOU’LL SEE NOTHING BUT LIES
SHE’S A WOMAN
Paul:
AND THROUGH THE DISGUISE OF A WOMAN.
Ryan:

THERE’S ROMANCE IN THE AIR
Both:
NOTHING ELSE CAN COMPARE,
THAT’S A WOMAN
Paul:
WOMAN, SO SOFT AND BEGUILING
SEE HER SMILING
AND FEEL YOUR HEART ALL AGLOW
ENFOLD HER
LAY HER HEAD ON YOUR SHOULDER
AND HOLD HER
‘TILL YOU JUST CAN’T LET HER GO.
Ryan:
TREAT HER AS IF YOU JUST DON’T GIVE A DAMN
THAT’S HOW TO HANDLE A WOMAN
BE MORE OF STALLION
LESS OF A LAMB
THAT’S HOW TO HANDLE A WOMAN!
KEEP HER HANGING AROUND TILL SHE’S READY TO BURST
THAT’S HOW TO HANDLE A WOMAN
DON’T TRY TO BE BAD, BE THE WORST!
DO UNTO OTHERS BUT JUST DO IT FIRST
TO A WOMAN, TO A WOMAN
BE WISE BE WARY AND BE ON YOUR GUARD.
THAT’S HOW TO HANDLE A WOMAN
IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU’RE FALLIN', YOU’D BETTER BE HARD
‘COS THAT’S HOW TO HANDLE A WOMAN.
DON’T LET HER GET CLOSER AND DON’T LET HER IN
THAT’S HOW TO HANDLE A WOMAN.
‘COS IF YOU ALLOW HER GET UNDER YOUR SKIN
MY FRIEND THAT’S THE END ‘COS YOU ‘AINT GONNA WIN
WITH A WOMAN, WITH A WOMAN.

Zara Curtis: dances to him with Hard Shoe taps as a challenge
Ryan:
I’M THINKING NOW I GOT SOMETHING TO PROVE
COS THAT’S WHAT I CALL A WOMAN!
Zara Curtis: dances to him with Hard Shoe taps as a challenge
Ryan:
ALL MY MOVES ARE STALLING HERE
I CAN’T GET THROUGH TO THIS WOMAN!
THE PIPES THE PIPES ARE CALLIN'’ HERE
I THINK I COULD BE FALLIN'’ HERE
FOR THIS WOMAN, WHAT A WOMAN!
Paul: FAITHFUL AND TRUE, THAT’S A WOMAN
Ryan: SHE COULDN’T BE TRUE, SHE’S JUST PLAYING WITH YOU,
WHAT A WOMAN!
Paul: TRUSTING IN YOU, THAT’S A WOMAN
Ryan: TRUSTING IN WHO? YOU JUST HAVEN’T A CLUE
WHAT A WOMAN
Paul: GENTLE AND CONSTANTLY CARING
Ryan: JUST LET IT BE,THIS ONE’S FOR ME
WHAT A WOMAN!
Paul: STRONG AS THE LOVE SHE IS SHARING.
Zara Curtis is now with Ryan
Both:
WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE EYES OF A WOMAN
AND THROUGH THE DISGUISE OF A WOMAN
YOU’LL SEE IT ALL THERE
THERE’S ROMANCE IN THE AIR
NOTHING ELSE CAN COMPARE

Both: WHAT A WOMAN!

The Island
Those mighty cedars bleedin’ in the heat
They're showing pictures on the television
Women and children dying in the street
And we're still at it in our own place
Still tryin’ to reach the future through the past
Still tryin’ to carve tomorrow from a tombstone...
But Hey! Don't listen to me! this wasn't meant to be no sad song.
We've heard too much of that before
Right now I only want to be here with you Till the morning dew comes falling And I wanna take you to the island Trace your footprints in the sand
And in the evening when the sun goes down We'll make love to the sound of the ocean
They're raising banners over by the markets
Whitewashing slogans on the shipyard walls
Witchdoctors praying for a mighty showdown No way our holy flag is gonna’ fall
Up here we sacrifice our children To feed the worn-out dreams of yesterday And teach them dying will lead us into glory...
But Hey! Don't listen to me! cos this wasn't meant to be no sad song.
I've sung too much of that before
Right now I only want to be here with you
Till the morning dew comes falling I wanna take you to the island
And trace your footprints in the sand
And in the evening when there’s no one around
We'll make love to the sound of the ocean
Now I know us plain folks don't see all the story
And I know this peace and love's just copping out
And I guess these young boys dying in the ditches Is just what being free is all about
And how this twisted wreckage down on main street
Will bring us all together in the end
And we'll go marching down the road to freedom...
Freedom……. Freedom
The Old Man
We’ve said our last goodbyes
His souls been blessed
He’s laid to rest
And it’s now I feel alone
He was more than just a father
A teacher my best friend
And He’ll still be heard
In the tunes we shared
When I play them on my own
(chorus)
I never will forget him
For he made me what I am
Though he may be gone
Memories linger on
And I miss him, the old man
As a boy he’d take me walkin’
By mountain field and stream
And he showed me things
Not known to kings
And secret between him and me
Like the colours on the pheasant
As he rises in the dawn
Or how to fish and make a wish
Beside a fairy tree
(chorus)
I never will forget him
For he made me what I am
Though he may be gone
Memories linger on
And I miss him, the old man
I thought he’d live forever
He seemed so big and strong
But the minutes fly
And the years roll by
For a father and a son
And suddenly when it happened
There was so much left unsaid
No second chance
To tell him thanks
For everything he’s done
Oh, I never will forget him
For he made me what I am
Though he may be gone
Memories linger on
God I miss him, the old man
The Voyage
We signed on together, we coupled our fate
We hauled up our anchor, determined not to fail
For the hearts treasure, together we set sail
With no maps to guide us we steered our own course
We rode out the storms when the winds were gale force
We sat out the doldrums in patience, and hope
Working together, we learned how to cope
Chorus:
Life is an ocean, love is a boat
In troubled waters, it keeps us afloat
When we started the voyage, there was just me and you
Now gathered round us, we have our own crew
Together we're in this relationship
We built it with care, to last the whole trip
Our true destination's not marked on any charts
We're navigating for the shores of the heart
Chorus:
Life is an ocean and love is a boat
In troubled waters, it keeps us afloat
When we started the voyage, there was just me and you
Now gathered round us, we have our own crew
Though we didn't believe him and we called him a liar ,
The redundancy letters came round
As we read them in silence, I choked back a tear, It was hard to believe after twenty-odd years
Farewell my companions, my friends and my workmates
Farewell to the paydays, the pints and the craic
Oh, We gave them our best years now they've paid us back , By making us yesterday's men, Sure as he ll, making us yesterday's men
So We said our goodbyes by the factory gates, One cold
Friday evening last year
And I saw it all there in the eyes of ma mates, The anger, the sadness, the fear
Like our fathers before us we worked there with pride,
Now we fought back the bitterness burning inside
Farewell my companions, my friends and my workmates, Farewell to the paydays, the pints and the craic
Oh we gave them our best years now they've paid us back, By making us yesterday's men , Sure as he ll, making us yesterday's men
Ah Now Jimmy, said she, Give the kids a few bob, After all, sure it is Friday night
But How could I tell her I was out of a job , from now on things were going to be tight
How well I remember it cut like a knife, I was never a day on the dole in my life
Farewell my companions, my friends and my workmates , Farewell to the paydays, the pints and the craic
Oh, We gave them our best years now they've paid us back, By making us yesterday's men, Sure as he ll, making us yesterday's men
The machines now are silent, the workbenches bare, And there's dust on the factory floor
They've boarded the windows and have chained up the gates , And have padlocked the factory door
Now I'm on the scrap-heap, and I'm thirty-nine, Jus one of the hundreds, shot down in my prime
Farewell my companions, my friends and my workmates , Farewell to the paydays, the pints and the craic
Oh, We gave them our best years now they've paid us back, By making us yesterday's men, Sure as he ll, making us yesterday's men
Farewell my companions, my friends and my workmates , Farewell to the paydays, the pints and the craic
Oh, We gave them our best years now they've paid us back, By making us yesterday's men, Sure as he ll, making us yesterday's men
Young Love
There's just one love in this whole world
And I know I've found mine
The heavenly touch of your embrace
Tells me no one could take your place
Ever in my heart
Young love, first love
Filled with deep devotion
Young love, our love
We share with deep emotion
Just one kiss from your sweet lips
Will tell me that our love is real
And I can feel that it's true
For we will vow to one another
There will never be another
Love for you or for me
Young love, first love
Filled with deep devotion
Young love, our love
We share with deep emotion
Young love, first love
Filled with deep devotion
Young love, first love
Filled with deep devotion
Every Breath You Take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you
Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you
Oh, cant you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
Every step you take
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you
Since youve gone I been lost without a trace
Dream at night I can only see your face
Look around but its you I cant replace
Feel so cold but I long for your embrace
Keep crying baby, baby, please..
Oh, cant you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you
I'll be watching you
I'll be watching you
I'll be watching you
I'll be watching you
I'll be watching you
I'll be watching you
Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
Tonight's the night I've waited for
Because you're not a baby anymore
You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
What happened to that funny face
My little tomboy now wears satin and lace
I can't believe my eyes you're just a teenage dream
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
When you were only six I was your big brother
Then when you were ten We didn't like each other
When you were thirteen You were my funny valentine
But since you've grown up Your future is sewn up
From now on you're gonna be mine, so
If I should smile with sweet surprise
It's just that you've grown up before my very eyes
You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
If I should smile with sweet surprise
It's just that you've grown up before my very eyes
You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la
Happy birthday sweet sixteen
Tra la-la-la-la la-la-la-la

Wichita Lineman
And I drive the mainroad.
Lookin' in the sun for another overload.
I hear you singing in the wire.
I can hear you thru the whine.
And the Wichita Lineman, is still on the line...
I know I need a small vacation.
But it don't look like rain.
And if it snows that stretch down south, won't ever stand the strain.
And I need you more than want you.
And I want you for all time.
And the Wichita Lineman, is still on the line...
And I need you more than want you.
And I want you for all time.
And the Wichita Lineman, is still on the line
Is still on the line...
Is still on the line...
Is still on the line...
Don't you leave my heart in misery
If you go then I'll be blue
Cause breaking up his hard to do
Remember when you held me tight
And you kissed me all through the night
Think of all that we've been through
And breaking up is hard to do
They say that breaking up is hard to do
Now I know, I know that it's true
Don't say that this is the end
Instead of breaking up I wish that we were making up again
I beg of you, don't say goodbye
Can't we give our love another try
Come on baby, let's start a new
Cause breaking up is hard to do
They say that breaking up is hard to do
Now I know, I know that it's true
Don't say that this is the end
Instead of breaking up I wish that we were making up again
I beg of you, don't say goodbye
Can't we give our love another try
Come on baby, let's start a new
Cause breaking up is hard to do

If I get drunk, well you know I'm gonna be

And if I haver, well you know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you
And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
When I'm working, well you know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money, comes in for the work I do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you
When I come home, well you know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
And if I grow-old well you know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you
And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
And falls down at your door

When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit awhile with me
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be
You raise me up to more than I can be
Low o'er the mountains and the dry dusty ground
As the night is falling, I start recalling
The nights in my own home town
I see their faces in familiar places
I hear the music that we played way back then
My heart rejoices, as I hear their voices
Calling me home again
Home, oh take me home
Home to the people I left behind
Home to the love I know I'll find
Oh, take me home
As the sky is burning, my mind is turning
To the cold winter evenings by my own fire side
So far away now, but any day now
I'll sail on the morning tide
Home, oh take me home
Home to the people I left behind
Home to the love I know I'll find
Oh, take me home
Take me home, far across the sea
Home is where I want to be
Home, oh take me home
Home to the people I left behind
Home to the love I know I'll find
Oh, take me home
Home, oh take me home
Home to the people I left behind
Home to the love I know I'll find
Oh, take me home
Take me home
You raise me up to more than I can be
Questo è un giorno che ricorderai
Alzati in fretta e vai
C'è chi crede in te
Non ti arrendere
Once in every life
There comes a time
We walk out all alone
And into the light
The moment won't last but then,
We remember it again
When we close our eyes.
Like stars across the sky
E per avvincere
Tu dovrai vincere
We were born to shine
All of us here because we believe
Non arrenderti
Qualcuno è con te
Like stars across the sky
We were born to shine
E per avvincere
Dovrai vincere
E allora vincerai
You raise me up to more than I can be
Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside
And rest for awhile neath the warm summer sun
I've been walking all day, and I'm nearly done
And I see by your gravestone, you're only nineteen
When you joined the great fallen in nineteen sixteen
Well I hope you died quickly, I hope you died clean
Or poor Willy Mcbride, was it slow and obscene
Did they beat the drums slowly
Did they play the pipes lowly
Did they bugles carry you over as they lowered you down
And did the band play 'The Last Post' in chorus
Did the pipes play 'The Flowers Of The Forest'
And did you leave a wife or a sweetheart behind
In some loyal heart is your memory enshrined
And though you died back in nineteen-sixteen
In that faithful heart are you always nineteen
Or are you a stranger without a name
Forever enshrined behind some glass pane
In an old photograph, torn and tattered, and stained.
And faded to yellow in a brown leather frame.
Did they beat the drums slowly
Did they play the pipes lowly
Did they bugles carry you over as they lowered you down
And did the band play 'The Last Post' in chorus
Did the pipes play 'The Flowers Of The Forest'
Well the sun's shining down on these green fields of France
The warm wind blows gently, and the red poppies dance
The trenches have vanished long under the plow
There's no gas, no barb wire, there's no guns firing now
But here in this graveyard that's still no-man's land
The countless white crosses stand mute in the sand
To man's blind indifference to his fellow man
The whole generation was butchered and damned
Did they beat the drums slowly
Did they play the pipes lowly
Did they bugles carry you over as they lowered you down
And did the band play 'The Last Post' in chorus
Did the pipes play 'The Flowers Of The Forest'
And I can't help but wonder young Willy McBride
Do those that lie here know why that they died
And did they really believe you when you told them the cause
Did they really believe that this war would end wars
Well the suffering, and the sorrow, the glory of pain
The killing and dying they were all done in vain
For young Willy McBride it's all happened again,
And again, and again, and again, and again
Did they beat the drums slowly
Did they play the pipes lowly
Did they bugles carry you over as they lowered you down
And did the band play 'The Last Post' in chorus
Did the pipes play 'The Flowers Of The Forest
You raise me up to more than I can be
When I was a silly boy
I didn’t need a thing,
I was strong as anything,
I viewed solitude as a joy
But since I met you I’m distraught
You wandered in and now I’m caught
I never thought I would see
Someone so truly good
Some one who’s so everything I’m not
I want to spend my life with you
Don’t want to live all alone
I can’t conceive of the years left in me
Without you in our home
But what if, what if, what if what
If it’s not perfect then it’s not
But every care I’ll take
Nothing I won’t forsake
To dwell beside what you’ve got
Every time I think about you
I think I can’t live with you
I’ll tell you something
I am nothing without you
I want to spend my life with you
Don’t want to live all alone
I can’t conceive of the years left in me
Without you in our home
I want to spend my life with you
Don’t want to live all alone
I can’t conceive of the years left in me
Without you in our home (2x)
And she cruised through the hamburger stand, now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man, now
Goes cruisin' just as fast as she can, now
And she'll have fun, fun, fun
'Til her daddy takes the T-Bird away
If everybody had an ocean
Across the U.S. of A.
Then everybody'd be surfin'
Like Californ-i-a
Huarachi sandals too
A bushy bushy blonde hairdo
Surfin' U.S.A.
You'd catch 'em surfin' at Del Mar
(Inside outside U.S.A.)
Ventura County line
(Inside outside U.S.A.)
Santa Cruz and Trestles
(Inside outside U.S.A.)
Australia's Narrabeen
(Inside outside U.S.A.)
All over Manhattan
(Inside outside U.S.A.)
And down Doheny way
(Inside outside)
Everybody's gone surfin'
Surfin' U.S.A.
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there
You better just beware
Of a man named Leroy Brown
Now Leroy more than trouble
You see he stand 'bout six foot four
All the downtown ladies call him Treetop Lover
All the men just call him Sir
Chorus:
And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
Now Leroy he a gambler
And he like his fancy clothes
And he like to wave his diamond rings
In front of everybody's nose
He got a custom Continental
He got an Eldorado too
He got a 32 gun in his pocket for fun
He got a razor in his shoe
(Repeat Chorus)
Now Friday 'bout a week ago
Leroy shootin' dice
And at the edge of the bar
Sat a girl named Doris
And oo that girl looked nice
Well he cast his eyes upon her
And the trouble soon began
Cause Leroy Brown learned a lesson
Bout messin' with the wife of a jealous man
(Repeat Chorus)
Well the two men took to fighting
And when they pulled them off the floor
Leroy looked like a jigsaw puzzle
With a couple of pieces gone.
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you
I have run
I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in her fingertips
It burned like a fire
This burning desire
I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
I have climbed highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see
Was grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come
'Twas grace that brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see
Was blind but now I see
Just called to say 'hello'
I couldn't sleep at all tonight
And I know it's late
But I couldn't wait
Hello, my friend, hello
Just called to let you know
I think about you every night
When I'm here alone
And you're there at home
Hello
Maybe it's been crazy
And maybe I'm to blame
But I put my heart above my head
We've been thru it all
And you loved me just the same
And when you're not there
I just need to hear
Hello, my friend, hello
It's good to need you so
It's good to love you like I do
And to feel this way
When I hear you say
Hello
Hello, my friend, hello
Just called to let you know
I think about you every night
And I know it's late
But I couldn't wait
Hello
I've heard her say
From each other
Even lovers need a holiday oooh
Far away from each other
Hold me now
It's hard for me to say I'm sorry
I just want you to stay
And after all that you've been through
I will make it up to you
I promise you, baby
And after all thats been said and done
You're just the part of me I can't let go
ooooh bup bup bup bup
Couldn't stand to be kept away
Not for a day
From your body
Wouldn't want to be swept away awaaaaaaaay
Far away from the one that I love
Hold me now
It's hard for me to say I'm sorry
I just want you to know
Hold me now
I really want to tell you I'm sorry
I could never let you go
And after all that we've been through
I will make it up to you
I promise you
And after all that's been said and done
You're just a part of me I can't let go
I can't let go.
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
Look into your heart - you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my life
I would give it all - I would sacrifice
Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way yeah
(background quite)
Look in to your heart baby
Oh - you can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - ya I'd die for you
You know it's true
Everything I do - ohhhhhhhhh - I do it for you
Just a small town dude with a big city attitude
Honey are ya lookin' for some trouble tonight
Well all right
You think you're so bad, drive the women folk wild
Shoot 'em all down with the flash of your pearly smile
Honey but you met your match tonight
Oh, that's right
You think you'll knock me off my feet 'til I'm flat on the floor
'Til my heart is cryin' Indian and I'm beggin for more
So come on baby
Come on baby show me what that loaded gun is for
[CHORUS]
If you can give it I can take it
'Cause if this heart is gonna break it's gonna take a lot to break it I know tonight
Somebody's gonna win the fight
So if you're so tough
Come on and prove it
You heart is down for the count and you know you're gonna lose it
Tonight you're gonna go down in flames
Just like Jesse James
You're an outlaw lover and I'm after your hide
Well you ain't so strong, won't be long 'til your hands are tied
Tonight I'm gonna take you in dead or alive
That's right
You break the laws of love in the name of desire
Take ten steps back cause I'm ready baby
Aim and fire
Baby there's nowhere you gonna run tonight
Ooh that's right
Well you've had your way with love but it's the end of the day
Now a team of wild horses couldn't drag your heart away
So come on baby
Come on baby
Come on baby you know there ain't nothing left to say
[CHORUS INSTRUMENTAL]
You think you'll knock me off my feet 'til I'm flat on the floor
'Til my heart is cryin' Indian and I'm beggin for more
So come on baby
Come on baby, come on
[CHORUS]
Tonight you're gonna go down in flames
Just like Jesse James
Tonight you're gonna go down in flames
Just like Jesse James
I'm gonna shoot you down Jesse James
That I found in Grandpa's trunk
Beside a wind-up gramophone
Beneath a pile of junk
And in that dusty attic
I enjoyed a music show
Listening to the melodies
Of eighty years ago
Doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka do
The band would play
Doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka do
They'd danced the night away
I long for all the magic
And the days of cabaret
Bring back those good old melodies
Of yesterday
Bring back those good old melodies
Of yesterday
In my youth, I studied music
And it taught me how to sing
"Bella signora"
They took me to the opera
And I loved that kind of thing
But then I'd listen to the stories
That my grandpa used to tell
About the Roaring Twenties
And the songs he knew so well
Doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka do
The band would play
Doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka do
They'd danced the night away
I long for all the magic
And the days of cabaret
Bring back those good old melodies
Of yesterday
Bring back those good old melodies
Of yesterday
Then he'd talk about the flappers
And the way they used to dance
About the bootleg liquor
And the ballrooms of romance
Then, later, in the movies
There's dancing everywhere
My grandpa said he dreamed
That he could move like Fred Astaire
Oh, doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka do
The band would play
Doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka doo wacka do
They'd danced the night away
I long for all the magic
And the days of cabaret
Bring back those good old melodies
Of yesterday
Bring back those good old melodies
Of yesterday
Dance with me, make me sway
Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore
Hold me close, sway me more
Like a flower bending in the breeze
Bend with me, sway with ease
When we dance you have a way with me
Stay with me, sway with me
Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have the magic technique
When we sway I go weak
I can hear the sounds of violins
Long before it begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now
Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have the magic technique
When we sway I go weak
I can hear the sounds of violins
Long before it begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now
You know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do
Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing
Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah Hallelujah
Hallelujah Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It's not a cry you can hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelu-
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm
May be surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
Just wanna go home
I miss you, you know
And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that
Another aeroplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky, I know
But I wanna go home
I’ve got to go home
Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home
It feels just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
'Cause this was not your dream
But you always believed in me
Another winter day has come
And gone away
In even Paris and Rome
I wanna go home
Let me go home
And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel alone
Let me go home
I miss you, you know
Let me go home
I'm just to far from where you are
I wanna come home
Let me go home
It will all be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home
Standing on a corner watching all the girls go by
Brother you don't know a nicer occupation
Matter of fact, neither do I
Than standing on a corner watching all the girls
Watching all the girls, watching all the girls go by
I'm the cat that got the cream
Haven't got a girl but I can dream
Haven't got a girl but I can wish
So I'll take me down to Main street
And that's where I select my imaginary dish
Standing on a corner watching all the girls go by
Standing on a corner giving all the girls the eye
Brother if you've got a rich imagination
Give it a whirl, give it a try
Try standing on a corner watching all the girls
Watching all the girls, watching all the girls go by
Brother you can't go to jail for what you're thinking
Or for that woo look in your eye
Standing on the corner watching all the girls
Watching all the girls, watching all the girls go by
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
We're happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song
As we go along
Walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
We'll say: No man
But you can do the job
When you're in town
Later on, we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
The plans that we've made
Walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman
Until the other kids knock him down
When it snows, ain't it thrilling
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way
Walking in a winter wonderland
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is
You... yea yea
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
(and I) Don't care about presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
There upon the fireplace
Santa Claus won't make me happy
With a toy on Christmas day
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
You baby
Oh I won't ask for much this Christmas
I won't even wish for snow
(and I) I'm just gonna keep on waiting
Underneath the mistletoe
To the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won't even stay awake to
Hear those magic reindeer click
Holding on to me so tight
What more can I do
Baby all I want for Christmas is you
You baby
All the lights are shining
So brightly everywhere (so brightly yea)
And the sound of children's
Laughter fills the air
I hear those sleigh bells ringing
Santa won't you bring me the one I really need
Won't you please bring my baby to me
Oh I don't want a lot for Christmas
This is all I'm asking for
I just want to see baby
Standing right outside my door
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
Baby all I want for Christmas is
You (You) baby
The carol singers calling
I'm just happy to be spending our first Christmas
Together
And I'll be more than jolly
With the mistletoe and holly
Tonight as we are counting down to Christmas
Together, Just you and me
With those jingle bells ringing
As I'm holding you near
I'll be making a toast
May tonight be the most
Unforgettable night of the year
The sound of jingle bells and laughter
Will remind us ever after
Of how we spent that magical first Christmas
Together, Just you and me
Just you and me
With those jingle bells ringing
As I'm holding you near
I'll be making a toast
May tonight be the most
Unforgettable night of the year
The year
Cuddled up and cozy
The future's looking rosy
And I can see us spending every Christmas
Together, Just you and me
Just you and me Just you and me Just you and me
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow
Can't wait to be on my way
To see once more the folks I've been missin
This long and many a day
Can't wait to get that old feelin
Bein' back where I belong
I've saved my fare
And I'll soon be there
It's Christmas, and I'm going home
Goin' home for Christmas
And the welcome that's waiting there
I'll say goodbye to the lights of Broadway
Farewell to ol' Times Square
Though my home is plain and simple
It's the place where I belong
And Bleecker Street
Just can't compete
It's Christmas, and I'm going home
I've saved my fare
And I'll soon be there
It's Christmas, and I'm going home
Goin' home for Christmas
The way that it used to be
See the candle burnin' there in the window
The fairy lights on the tree
Hear the laughter of the children
See the wonder in their eyes
Bring on the snow
And the mistletoe
It's Christmas, and I'm going home
Bring on the snow
And the mistletoe
It's Christmas, and I'm going home
I'm going home.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
Silent night! Holy night!
All's asleep, one sole light,
Just the faithful and holy pair,
Lovely boy-child with curly hair,
Sleep in heavenly peace!
Silent night! Holy night!
God's Son laughs, o how bright.
Love from your holy lips shines clear,
As the dawn of salvation draws near,
Jesus, Lord, with your birth!
Silent night! Holy night!
Brought the world peace tonight,
From the heavens' golden height
Shows the grace of His holy might
Jesus, as man on this earth!
Silent night! holy night!
Where today all the might
Of His fatherly love us graced
And then Jesus, as brother embraced.
All the peoples on earth!
Silent night! Holy night!
Long we hoped that He might,
As our Lord, free us of wrath,
Since times of our fathers He hath
Promised to spare all mankind!
Silent night! Holy night!
Sheperds first see the sight.
Told by angelic Alleluja,
Sounding everywhere, both near and far:
"Christ the Savior is here!"
I'll only stay awhile
I want to hear how you're getting on
I want to see you smile
I'm happy to be back again
And greet you big and small
For there's no place else on this earth quite like
The homes of Donegal
I long to see your smiling children
Standing by the door
The kettle boiling on the hearth
As I walk up the floor
And then to see you waiting for me
For travellers one and all
For your hearts' alive in your mountain sides
In the homes of Donegal
I'd like to lie, lie along with you
And while away the night
With fairy lore and tales of yore
Beside the surf fire bright
And then to see you laid out for me
A shake-down by the wall
For there's rest for weary wanderers
In the homes of Donegal
Donegal, Queen of all
Donegal, Queen of all
Donegal, Queen of all
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you "Be of good cheer"
It's the most wonderful time of the year
It's the hap -happiest season of all
With those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings
When friends come to call
It's the hap - happiest season of all
There'll be parties for hosting
Marshmallows for toasting
Caroling out in the snow
There'll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories of
Christmases long, long ago
Long ago
It's the most wonderful time of the year
There'll be much mistltoeing
And hearts will be glowing
When love ones are near
It's the most wonderful time of the year
[Interlude]
There'll be parties for hosting
Marshmallows for toasting
And caroling out in the snow
There'll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories of
Christmases long, long ago
It's the most wonderful time of the year
There'll be much mistltoeing
And hearts will be glowing
When love ones are near
It's the most wonderful time
Yes the most wonderful time
It's the most wonderful time of the year

Glad tidings we bring
To you and your King
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
So bring us Some figgy pudding
So bring us some figgy pudding
So bring us some figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer.
Chorus
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your King
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Chorus
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I've got to go away - but baby it's cold outside
This evening has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice - I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice
My mother will start to worry - Beautiful words you're humming
And father will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar
So really I'd better scurry - Beautiful, please don't hurry
Well, maybe just a half a drink more - Put some records on while I pour
The neighbours might think - But baby it's bad out there
Say, what's in this drink? - No cabs to be had out there
I wish I knew how - Your eyes are like starlight now
To break the spell - I'll take your hat, your hairs looks swell
I ought to say no, no, no sir - Mind if I move in closer?
At least I'm gonna say that I tried - What's the sense of hurting my pride?
I really can't stay - Oh baby don't hold out
Ah but it's cold outside - Baby it's cold outside
I simply must go - But baby it's cold outside
The answer is no -But baby it's cold outside
The welcome has been - How lucky that you dropped in
So nice and warm - Look out that window at that storm
My sister will be suspicious - God your lips look delicious
My brother will be there at the door - Waves upon a tropical shore
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious - Gosh your lips are delicious
Well, maybe just a cigarette more -Never such a blizzard before
I got to get home - But baby you'd freeze out there
Say, lend me a coat - It's up to your knees out there
You've really been grand - I'm thrilled when you touch my hand
Why don't you see - How can you do this thing to me?
There's bound to be talk tomorrow - Think of my lifelong sorrow
At least there will be plenty implied - If you caught pneumonia and died
I really can't stay - Get over that hold-out
Ah but it's cold outside - Ah but it's cold outside
(Only the man:)
Where could you be going
When the wind is blowing
And it's cold outside?
(Both:)
Baby it's cold, cold outside
Brr its cold.
It's cold out there
Cant you stay awhile longer baby
Well..I really shouldn't...alright
Everywhere you go
Take a look in the Five and Ten
Glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Toys in every store
But the prettiest sight to see
Is the holly that will be
On your own front door
A pair of Hopalong boots and a pistol that shoots
Is the wish of Bonny and Ben
Dolls that will talk and go for a walk
Is the hope of Janice and Jenn
And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again
(Yes Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again)
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
There's a tree in the Grand Hotel
One in the park as well
The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Soon the bells will start
And the thing that will make them ring.
Is the Carol that you sing
Right within your heart
Right within your heart
Right within your heart
Oh well he just might like to know
He's put a great big smile on somebody's face
If you jump into your bed
And you cover up your head
Don't you lock the doors
You know that sweet Santa Claus is on the way
(Chorus)
Well I wish it could be Christmas everyday
When the kids start singing and the band begins to play
Oh I wish it could be Christmas everyday
Let the bells ring out for Christmas
When we're skating in the park
If the storm cloud paints it dark
Then your rosy cheeks are gonna light my merry way
Now the frosticals appeared
And they've frozen up my beard
And so we'll lie by the fire
Til the sleep simply melts them all away
(Chorus)
Well I wish it could be Christmas everyday
When the kids start singing and the band begins to play
Oh I wish it could be Christmas everyday
Let the bells ring out for Christmas
(Chorus)
Well I wish it could be Christmas everyday
When the kids start singing and the band begins to play
Oh I wish it could be Christmas everyday
Let the bells ring out for Christmas
Why don't you give your love, it's Christmas
When the snowman brings the snow
When the snowman brings the snow
When the snowman brings the snow
When the snow
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance but you still catch my eye
Tell me, baby, do you recognize me?
Well, it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me
Merry Christmas, I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying, "I love you", I meant it
Now I know what a fool I've been
But if you kissed me now I know you'd fool me again
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
A crowded room and friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you and your soul of ice
My God, I thought you were someone to rely on
Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A girl undercover but you tore her apart
Maybe this year, maybe this year
I'll give it to someone special
'Cause last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
And last Christmas
And this year won't be anything like
Anything like
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
And this year to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Ave Maria
Gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus
Dominus tecum
Benedicta tu in mulieribus
Et benedictus
Et benedictus fructus ventris
Ventris tui, Jesus
Ave Maria
Ave Maria
Mater Dei
Ora pro nobis pecatoribus
Ora, ora pro nobis
Ora, ora pro nobis pecatoribus
Nunc et in hora mortis
In hora mortis nostrae
In hora mortis, mortis nostrae
In hora mortis nostrae
Ave Maria!
Christmas 1915
On the western front the guns all died away
And lying in the mud on bags of sand
We heard a germen sing from no mans land
He had a tenor voice so pure and true
The words were strange but every note we knew
Soaring ore the living dead and dammed
The germen sang of peace from no mans land
They left there trenches and we left ours
Beneath tins hats the smiles bloomed like wild flowers
With photos, cigerets and boats of wine
We built a solders truce on the front line
There singer was a lad of twenty one
We begged another song before the dawn
And sitting in the mud and blood and fear
He sang again the song I longed to hear
Silent night no cannons roar
A king is born of peace for evermore
Alls calm, alls bright all brothers hand in hand
In 19 and 15 in no mans' Land
And in the morning all the guns boomed in the rain
And we killed them and they killed us again
At night they charged we fought them hand to hand
And I killed the boy that sang in no mans land
Silent night no cannons roar
A king is born of peace for evermore
Alls calm, alls bright all brothers hand in hand
And that young solder sings
The sound of peace still rings
Tho the captains and the kings build no mans land
Sleep in heavenly peace
All God's creatures got a place in the choir,
Some sing low and some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they got.
[Repeat Chorus]
Well listen to the bass its the one on the bottom,
Where the bullfrog croaks and the hippopotamus,
moans and groans with a big to do,
And the old cow just goes moo.
The dogs and the cats, they take up the middle,
Where the honeybee hums and the cricket fiddles,
The donkey brays and the pony neighs,
And the old gray badger sighs.
[Chorus]
Listen to the top with the little birds singing,
And the melodies and the high notes ringing,
And the hoot-owl cries over everything,
And the blackbird disagrees.
Singing in the night time singing in the day,
And the little duck quacks and he's on his way,
And the otter hasn't got much to say,
And the porcupine talks to himself.
[Chorus]
Its a simple song living song everywhere,
By the ox and the fox and the grizzly bear,
The grumpy alligator and the hawk above,
The sly old weasel and the turtledove.
I took a stroll down the old long walk
On the day -I-ay-I-ay
I met a little girl and we stopped to talk
On a grand top day -I-ay
All:
And I ask you, friend, what's a fella to do
'Cause her hair was black and her eyes were blue
And I knew right then I'd be takin' a whirl
Down the Salthill Prom with a Galway girl
Ryan & Keith:
We were halfway there when the rain came down
On the day -I-ay-I-ay
And she took me up to her flat downtown
Of a fine soft day -I-ay
George/All:
And I ask you, friend, what's a fella to do
If her hair was black and her eyes were blue
So I took her hand and I gave her a twirl
And I lost my heart to a Galway girl
Damian:
So, when I woke up I was all alone
With a broken heart and a ticket home
George/All:
And I ask you friend, what's a fella to do
If her hair was black and her eyes were blue
See I've traveled around, I've been over the world
I've never seen nothin' like a Galway girl
And I ask you friend, what's a fella to do
If her hair was black and her eyes were blue
See I've traveled around, been all over the world
Boy, I've never seen nothin' like a Galway girl.
Her lips are like some roses fair
She`s got the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands
I love my love, and well she knows
I love the ground whereon she goes
I wish the day, it soon would come
When she and I, could be as one
For black is the color of my true loves hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She`s got the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands
I go to the Clyde, and I mourn and weep
For satisfied I never can be
Then I write her a letter, just a few short lines
And suffer death a thousand times
For black is the color of my true loves hair
Her lips are like red roses fair
She`s got the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands
For black is the color of my true loves hair
Her lips are like red roses fair
She`s got the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands
For black is the color of my true loves hair
As I'm sitting in the firelight
And turning back the years
I can hear my mother singing in the morning
Ryan:
As she scrubbed our shining faces
And then packed us off to school
All too soon those days were over without warning
Both:
Sing me the songs of our gold and silver days
Days filled with innocence and light
Not a penny to our name
We were happy just the same
In our gold and silver days
Ryan:
In the parlor on a Friday night
My father took the floor
I can hear us joined together in the chorus
Both:
Singing "Just A Song At Twilight"
Or "The Moon Behind The Hill"
Now those voices all are silent, gone before us
Both:
Sing me the songs of our gold and silver days
Days filled with innocence and light
Not a penny to our name
We were happy just the same
In our gold and silver days
George:
Then we'd gather at the daisy field
On Sunday after mass
I can hear the songs, the stories, and the laughter
Ryan:
Through the years we were all were scattered
But the friends we made back then
Were the friends we could rely on ever after
Both:
So, sing me the songs of our gold and silver days
Days filled with innocence and light
Not a penny to our name
We were happy just the same
In those gold and silver days
As I gently kneel and say
An Ave for my mother
As her spirit slips away
A way to join my father
And to share eternity
We call them kindred spirits
Now they will forever be
So now they're reunited
Smiling down from up above
As fondly we remember
The old house they filled with love
How even through the hard times
They were close as close could be
Just like the kindred spirits
They will forever be
Their love was as deep as the ocean
Flying higher than eagles would dare
As strong as the mountains in Donegal
As soft as a morning in Clare
I can see her in the kitchen
I can smell the baking bread
I can hear my father singing
As he tucked us in to bed
They shared the load together
They were proud as proud could be
And now those kindred spirits
Will share eternity
They shared the load together
They were proud as proud could be
They were always kindred spirits
And they will forever be
For now those kindred spirits
Will share eternity
As I was goin' over the Cork and Kerry mountains
I saw a Captain Farrell and his money he was countin'
I first produced my pistols, then produced my rapier
I said a stand there or deliver or the devil he may take ya
Both:
Musha ring dumma do damma di
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
Neil:
I took all of his money and it was a pretty penny
I took all of his money and I brought it home to Molly
She swore that she loved me and never would she leave me
But the devil take that women for she know she treat me easy
Both:
Musha ring dumma do damma di
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
Keith:
'Round about six or maybe seven
In walked Captain Farrell
I jumped up fired off my pistol
And I shot him with both barrels
Both:
Musha ring dumma do damma di
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
Neil:
Some men like the fishin'
some men like the fowlin'
Some men like to hear the cannon ball a rollin'
Keith:
Me, I like sleepin'
'Specially in my Molly's chamber
But here I am in prison
Here I am with a ball and chain, yeah
Both:
Musha ring dumma do damma di
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
Musha ring dumma do damma di
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
To keep his thumb jammed in the dam that holds his dreams in
But that's a secret only Margaret knows
When Amsterdam is golden in the morning
Margaret brings him breakfast and she believes him
He thinks the tulips bloom beneath the snow
He's mad as he can be, but Margaret only sees that sometimes
Sometimes she sees her unborn children in his eyes
Let us go the banks of the ocean
Where the walls rise above the Zuiderzee
Long ago, I used to be a young man
But dear Margaret remembers that for me
The Dutchman still wears wooden shoes
His cap and coat are patched with the love that Margaret sewn in
Sometimes he thinks he's still in Rotterdam
He watches tugboats down canals and calls out to them when he thinks he knows the captain
'Til Margaret comes to take him home again
Through the unforgiving streets that trip him though she holds his arm
Sometimes he thinks that he's alone and calls her name
Let us go the banks of the ocean
Where the walls rise above the Zuiderzee
Long ago, I used to be a young man
But dear Margaret remembers that for me
Windmills whirl the winter in
She winds his muffler tighter they sit in the kitchen
Some tea with whiskey keeps away the dew
He sees her for a moment, calls her name she makes his bed up singing some old love song
She learned it when the tune was very new
He hums a line or two, they hum together in the night
The Dutchman falls asleep and Margaret blows the candle out
Let us go the banks of the ocean
Where the walls rise above the Zuiderzee
Long ago, I used to be a young man
But dear Margaret remembers that for me
That's newly sprung in June
My love is like a melody
That's sweetly played in tune
As fair art thou my bonnie lass
So deep in love am I
And I will love thee still my dear
Til all the seas gang dry
Til all the seas gang dry, my dear
And the rocks melt with the sun
And I will love thee still my dear
While sands of life shall run
But fare thee well my only love
Oh fare thee well a while
And I will come again my love
Thought it were ten thousand miles
As fair art thou my bonnie lass
So deep in love am I
And I will love thee still my dear
Til all the seas gang dry
And the love that I'm leaving behind me
And the twilight will always remind me
Of my Noirin, mo Stoirin, my love
Every night, I'll be thinking of Noirin
And the way I could only kiss her
Every bone in my body will miss her
My Noirin, mo Stoirin, my love
I curse the day that I left her
And the people who drove me away
It's worse than I ever imagined
Oh God, it gets harder each day
I curse the day that I left her
And the people who drove me away
It's worse than I ever imagined
Oh God, it gets harder each day
So I pray when my exile is over
With the pain and the heartache behind us
Back in the peace of the valley, you'll find us
My Noirin, mo Stoirin, and me
Back in the peace of the valley, that's where we will be
My Noirin, mo Stoirin, and me
Once in the dear dead days beyond recall
When on the world the mists began to fall
Out of the dreams that rose in happy throng
Long to our hearts love sang an old sweet song
Damian:
And in the dusk where fell the firelight gleam
Softly it wove itself into our dream
Both:
Just a song a twilight, when the lights are low
And the flick'ring shadows softly come and go
Tho' the heart be weary, sad the day and long
Still to us at twilight comes loves old song
Comes loves old sweet song
Paul:
Even today we hear loves song of yore
Deep in our hearts it dwells forevermore
Footsteps may falter, weary grow the way
Still we can hear it at the close of day
Damian:
So till the end, when life's dim shadows fall
Love will be found the sweetest song of all
Both:
Just a song a twilight, when the lights are low
And the flick'ring shadows softly come and go
Tho' the heart be weary, sad the day and long
Still to us at twilight comes loves old song
Comes loves old song
Comes loves old sweet song

I'm a boy from the Erne and I could charm a nice young girl.
I would not ask for her wealth as I am rich enough myself.
I own Cork, as big as it is, two sides of the glen, and Tyrone.
And not to repeat myself, I'm the heir of County Mayo.
Rachaidh mé 'márach a dhéanamh leanna fán choill
Gan choite, gan bád, gan gráinnín brach' ar bith liom
Ach duilliúr na gcraobh mar éideadh leapa os mo chionn
'S óró sheacht mh'anam déag thú 's tú 'féachaint orm anall.
(English)
I will go tomorrow to make ale in the wood
Without a cot, without a boat, without a pinch of gruel with me
But leaves of the branches as bedclothes over my head
And O! good for you! and you looking across at me.
Buachailleacht bó, mo lao, nár chleacht mise ariamh
Ach ag imirt 's ag 'ol 's le hógmhná deasa fá shliabh
Má chaill mé mo stór ní dóigh* gur chaill mé mo chiall
A's ní mó liom do phóg ná'n bhróg atá'r caitheamh le bliain.
(English)
A cowherd, my pet, I've never been accustomed to be
But playing and drinking and (being) with nice young women on the mountain
Even though I lost my wealth it's not as though I lost my senses
And your kiss is no more to me now than a shoe worn for a year.
A chuisle 's a stór ná pós an seanduine liath
Ach pós a' fear óg, mo lao, mur' maire sé ach bliain
Nó beidh tú go fóill gan ó nó mac os do chionn
A shilfeadh a'n deor tráthnóna nó'r maidin go trom.
(English)
My darling and my love don't marry the grey old man
But marry a young man, my pet, if he only lives but a year
Or you will be without a descendant to succeed you
Who would shed their tears heavily at eve or at morn.
The lifeboat answered the call
They pitched and they tossed, 'til we thought they were lost
As we watched from the harbor wall
Though the night was pitch black, there was no turning back
For someone was waiting out there
And each volunteer had to live with his fear
As they joined in a silent prayer
Carry us home, home, home from the sea
Angels of mercy, answer our plea
And carry us home, home, home from the sea
Carry us safely home from the sea
As they battled their way past the mouth of the bay
It was blowing like never before
As they gallantly fought, every one of them thought
Of loved ones back on the shore
Then a flicker of light, and they knew they were right
There she was on the crest of a wave
She's an old fishing boat, and she's barely afloat
Please God, there are souls we can save
And carry them home, home, home from the sea
Angels of mercy, answer our plea
And carry us home, home, home from the sea
Carry us safely home from the sea
And back in the town on a street that runs down
To the sea and the harbor wall
They gathered in pairs at the foot of the stairs
To wait for the radio call
And just before dawn, when all hope was gone
Came a hush and a faraway sound
'Twas the coxswain he roared, "All survivors on board!"
Thank God, and we're homeward bound
Carry us home, home, home from the sea
Angels of mercy, answer our plea
And carry us home, home, home from the sea
Carry us safely home from the sea
Home, home, home from the sea
Angels of mercy, answer our plea
And carry us home, home, home from the sea
Carry us safely home from the sea
Onward the sailors cry
Carry the lad that's born to be king
Over the sea to Skye
Though the waves leap, soft shall he sleep
The ocean's a royal bed
Rocked in the deep, Flora will keep
Watch by the weary head
Speed Bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing
Onward the sailors cry
Carry the lad that's born to be king
Over the sea to Skye
Burned are our homes, exiled in death
Scatter the loyal men
Yet ere the sword, cool in it's sheath
Charlie will come again
Speed Bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing
Onward the sailors cry
Carry the lad that's born to be king
Over the sea to Skye
Speed Bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing
Onward the sailors cry
Carry the lad that's born to be king
Over the sea to Skye
Over the sea to Skye
Over our mountains and valleys of green
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
And shining Your light from above
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
Over our mountains and valleys of green
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
And shining Your light from above
All over this land that we love
This is our land; this is where we belong
Here between mountain and sea
Here is our future and here is our past
And here, we are destined to be
This is our land; this is where we belong
These are our fields and our farms
God gave us protection and gave us the right
And gave us the strength in our arms
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
Over our mountains and valleys of green
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
And shining Your light from above
All over this land that we love
This is our land; this is where we will stay
And fight for the right to be here
This is the land where our fathers have spilled
Their blood and their sweat and their tears
This is our land; this is where we belong
And where we intend to remain
We'll drive the invader back over the sea
Again and again and again and again and again and again
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
Over our mountains and valleys of green
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
And shining Your light from above
All over this land that we love
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
Over our mountains and valleys of green
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
And shining Your light from above
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
Over our mountains and valleys of green
Thank you, Lord, for a new day dawning
And shining Your light from above
All over this land that we love
All over this land that we love
Can’t you feel it in the air,
Look out! There’s danger all about,
You had better beware.
Ooh, ooh. Under darkening skies,
Ooh, ooh. There’s a full moon on the rise.
Look out! There’s a highwayman about,
No traveller is safe on the road.
Look out! And never be in doubt,
This night is about to explode.
Ooh, ooh. From the shadows he’s suddenly there,
Ooh, ooh. Then you will hear him declare.
CHORUS:
Stand and Deliver!
I’ll take your money or your life.
Stand and Deliver!
And tonight, I just might
Take your wife!
Look out! A coach has been surprised
Crossing Branagan’s Moor.
No doubt, the gold that’s been excised
Will be given to the poor!
Ooh, ooh. For the poor are being squeezed everyday,
My fine friend’s, give it up, now it’s your turn to pay.
Look out! The gentry and the rich,
For I have taken an oath.
Look out! No matter which is which,
I will steal from you both!
Ooh, ooh. Who will stand up for the weak.
Ooh, ooh. Yes, mine is the voice that will speak.
CHORUS
Look at me
Debonair and disarming. That's me to a T.
Take a look at me
Don't need no fandangles
I've got all of the angles
Just look at me.
Look at me
I ain't no beginner, a natural winner.
That's me to a T.
Take a look at me
I can sing acapella, I'm a hell of a fella.
Just look at me
You know nothing at all about ladies
Let me give you a piece of advice
You're headed for nothing but trouble
You'll be paying a hell of a price.
Cause you think you're a bit of a killer
That the ladies will fall at your feet
They could eat you for supper
And spit you right out on the street.
Look at me
Your resistance will crumble, get ready to rumble.
1 2 3!
Take a look at me
I'm as fit as a fiddle so let's hide it a little
Just you and me.
It's a very bad time to be cocky
When you're out there on the pull
Hold your horse like a jockey
And don't rush in like a bull.
You have to be patient with ladies
And tell them what they want to hear.
Keep a steady aim on your target
Don't shoot like a young pistolier.
Take a good look at yourself, for goodness sake
For the ladies are laughing, ask yourself why.
Take a good look at yourself and you will see
A natural loser, take it from me.
Look at me, I ain't no beginner
A natural winner, that's me to a T.
Take a look at me, I can sing acapella
I'm a hell of a fella, just look at me.
Hail The Hero "Mo Ghile Mear"
O-Ro, Ri na bhfarraige,
Ri na bhfarraige
Na bhfarraige mhoir Ro! (2)
Chorus
Se mo laoch mo ghile mear,
Se mo cheasar, gile mear,
Suan no Sean, Ni bhfuair me fhein
O chuaidh i gcein mo ghile mear
Hail the hero, strong and true,
Who fought the fight, and saw it through,
Who swore he ne’er would be a slave
And gave his life our land to save.
Chorus
Tho’ bruised and bowed and down at heel,
We made a vow we’d never kneel,
Before the invader’s power and might,
With the flame of freedom burning bright.
Chorus
From our wild Atlantic shore,
Above the mighty ocean’s roar.
Let’s sing from the highest mountain side
Of heroes who fill our hearts with pride.
Chorus
With a twinkle in her eye
And just the kind of features
To make a young man sigh.
She is sweet and she is sunny,
Just like a morn in May,
She’s just the kind of creature
Who could steal your heart away…
But…
CHORUS
She’s not the one that’s meant for me,
The one that Heaven-sent for me.
I know, although I haven’t found her yet,
She’s not the one, she’s not the one
She’s not the one that I’ll care for,
The one I’ll always be there for.
Don’t ask the why or the wherefore…
I know…
She’s not the one.
Can her smile light up the morning?
Can her laughter life the night?
Can she hold you when you’re troubled
And make everything alright?
Can she fill each waking moment?
Who knows? Perhaps she can,
And yes, I realise
She’d be a prize for any man
But…
CHORUS
Shadows, dancing, shadows dancing
Do it again and again, and again and again
Instrumental Verse
Chorus:
Shadows dancing in the moonlight
Shadows dancing in the dark
Memories, dancing for me.....
Vocal Verse:
Come to me, come to me, feel my passion
Come fulfil my fantasy,
Come and be my phantom lover,
Be my man of mystery.
Never ever thought how much I’d want you
Never ever thought I’d be ready to scream
Will I ever feel your body near me?
Only in a never-ending dream,
In a never-ending .......
Chorus
But I like it this way
Here on the outside, lookin’ in
I see the games that they play.
I’m on the outside, lookin’ in
But I don’t really care
Here in the outside, lookin’ in,
‘Long as I get my share
You know that I’ll take my share...
When it’s late at night
they blow out the light
And although they might be sleepin’
If they hear a sound
I may be around
And they know I could be creepin’, (creepin’ creepin)
The must be aware
If they think I’m there,
It’s a very scary feelin’!
Lyin’ in their beds,
Running through their heads
Is one thought - what is he stealin’?
Chorus:
They know who I am
I don’t give a damn
I could lead ev’ry lamb to the slaughter
So be on your guard
for my calling card
And be sure - to lock up your daughter
Boom boom! Boom boom! Boom boom!
You’re a man who is ready,
Who is strong and who’s steady,
You know what I mean?
When you are eighteen
Then you should be respected
And you don’t need protected,
When you are eighteen.
When you are eighteen
You are braver and bolder
Than that crowd who are older,
You know what I mean?
’Cos when you are eighteen
With all those years to prepare you,
There’s nothing can scare you
When you are eighteen
CHORUS
I’m ready to travel,
To follow my star
To the places I’ve been dreaming of.
I’m ready for living;
I’m ready for life
And I know that I’m ready for love…
But when you are eighteen,
They say “Love’s complicated
And so over-rated”,
you know what I mean?
When you are eighteen,
They say “Wait, and don’t worry”,
And “Hey! What’s your hurry
’Cos you’re only eighteen”.
CHORUS
When you are eighteen,
With the world all around you,
It can sometimes astound you,
You know what I mean?
Just how little they know,
All those cowboys and chancers,
I’ve got more of the answers….
And I’m only eighteen
When you’re dreaming all alone.
Dreaming of the one,
The one that you can call your own.
But now at last, I’ve found
The love that I’ve been searching for,
And ev’rything feels right,
When you hold me tight,
Tender is the night.
After all this time,
After all the loneliness
Yearning for your touch
Yearning for your tenderness
Now at last I’ve found
The magic of your sweet caress
And ev’rything feels right
When you hold me tight
Tender is the night.
You have made my spirit whole,
And you have touched my very soul
Your love just shook me to the core,
Opened ev’ry door,
Made me cry for more.....
I believe in love,
Just as I believe in you,
And in the Power above
To make our ev’ry dream come true
And I believe that we
Will love until eternity,
The future seems so bright,
When you hold me tight
Tender is the night.
Who breaks ev’ry rule?
The Highwayman.
He isn’t a rogue, and he isn’t a fool.
The Highwayman.
With a glint in his eye,
And the wind in his hair
The Highway man.
Choir:
Who is the Highwayman?
Who is the Highwayman?
He’s rough, but he’s handsome,
He’s gentle but strong,
The Highwayman.
They say he’s a nobleman
Who has gone wrong,
The Highwayman.
He’ll take all your jewels,
But do it with style,
The Highwayman.
As he ockets your diamonds
He’ll flash you a smile,
The Highwayman.
Who is The Highwayman?
Who is The Highwayman?
I’ve never known anyone like him,
He’s like no one that I’ve ever met.
How easy he’ll be to remember,
How hard he will be to forget.
he’s stolen from Princes,
He’s stolen from Earls,
The Highwayman.
But his greatest pleasure
Is stealing from girls,
The Highwayman.
You’ll feel empty inside
When you see him depart,
The Highwayman.
You may not realise
But he’s stolen your heart,
The Highwayman.
Who is The Highwayman?
Who is The Highwayman?
And I’ve many a story to tell.
I’m still going strong,
As I’ve done all along,
I’m not ready for heaven or hell.
Each day is a brand new adventure,
They say you’re as young as you feel,
May not be twenty six
But I’ve learned a few tricks,
Being mature has a certain appeal.
CHORUS
It’s not over till it’s over
and not till the fat lady sings.
Time to raise our glasses
And see what tomorrow brings.
Our life is one big gamble
So roll up and place your bet
But its not over till its over
And there’s life in the old dog yet.
They say that life is for livin’,
And I’ve no doubt at all that it’s true.
I know, to be fair,
That I have done my fair share
But I’ve still got some livin’ to do!
I’ve only got the one daughter,
Time she married and got settled down
And the man I have planned
has got plenty of land,
Then I really will light up the town.
CHORUS
There blows a lily fair
When twilight gleam is in her eyes
The night is on her hair
And like a love - sick lenanshee
She hath my heart in thrall
No life have I, no liberty
With love is lord of all
And sometimes when the beetles horn
Hath lulled the eve to sleep
I steal unto her shieling low
And through her dooreen peep
There on the cricket's singing stone
She stirs the bog wood fire
And hums in soft sweet undertones
The song of heart's desire
Her welcome like her love for me
Is from her heart within
Her warm kiss is felicity
That knows no taint of sin
From the Midnight Well
For its dark and evil, so they say
The Midnight Well.
They’ll tell you a tale of a lovely young maid,
The fairest that they’d ever known.
What a beauty, they say
But she went her own way
And that night she set out on her own
For, they say, she had a rendezvous
At the Midnight Well,
With a gypsy man she barely knew,
At the Midnight Well
Nobody knew where he came from
But they remembered the fire in his eyes
His earring of gold,
And his hair, black as coal,
And a look that could just hypnotise...
(when he said)
CHORUS
Come away, Come away with me
Come here and lay with me
Come away out of the light!
Come away, come away
Come and ride with me into the night!
Nevermore, they never saw her face
At the Midnight Well.
She was gone, and never left a trace
At the Midnight Well.
They say when the summer nights come to an end
And a harvest moon glows in the sky,
A black horse will appear
And a sound you will hear
As the ghost of a gypsy rides by...
(and he says)
CHORUS
A dtainig ariamh
An ghealach is an ghrian
Fol lol the doh fol the day
Fol the doh fol the day
Imtheochaidh an ghealach's an ghrian
An Daoine og is a chail 'na dhiadh
Fol lol the doh fol the day
Fol the doh fol the day
Fol lol the doh fol the day
Fol the doh fol the day
Imtheochaidh a dtainig ariamh
an duine og is a chail ne dhiadh
Fol lol the doh fol the day
Fol the doh fol the day
Translation
I will go east and go west
[To the places] from whence came
The moon and the sun
The moon and the sun will go
And the young man
With his reputation behind him
I will go wherever he came from -
The young man with his reputation behind him
And I have had my wild romances.
I’ve taken all that life can give,
And taken my fair share of chances
A good life, far from the High Life
And I thank God that this was My Life.
I’ve known just how it is to win,
And I have felt the pain of losing,
Some paths I chose would end in tears,
But they were all of my own choosing.
A good life, far from the High Life
But I thank God that it was My Life.
I’ve known contentment in a woman’s arms
And felt the warmth of her devotion,
And I’ve known heartache
And a dark despair
That was as deep as any ocean
But we get the strength to carry on
And build a life or our own making,
We thank the Lord for each new day,
And for ev’ry breath that we are taking.
It’s a good life, far from the high life
And I thank God that this Was My Life.
And looking back on all the years,
The loves, the sweetness and the sorrow
Have made me what I am today
And I’d do it all again tomorrow.
We can’t deny life
How it flies by - life
And I thank God that
This Was My Life
We’re CELTIC THUNDER,
And together we’ll always stay.
Thru’ the darkest hours, the brightest dawn,
The Thunder, the Thunder
Will keep rolling on.
Proud to know you,
We’re CELTIC THUNDER,
And ev’ry friend we’ve made along the way.
When other mem’ries are dead and gone,
The Thunder, the Thunder
Will keep rolling on.
Ev’ry step we’ve taken side by side,
We’ve been together, as a team
Ev’ry special moment is a moment shared
On this journey to our dream.
Looking back at where we started from
And how we’ve come so very far
We vow to be the best that we can be
And be true to who we are
Chorus:
And I've been down underground,,
And I swear to God, if I ever see the sun,,
Or for any length of time,,
I can hold it in my mind,,
I never again will go down underground.,
,
At the age of sixteen years,,
Oh he quarrels with his peers,,
Who vowed they'd never see another one,,
In the dark recess of the mine,,
Where you age before your time,,
And the coal dust lies heavy on your lungs.,
,
It's a Workin' Man I am,,
And I've been down underground,,
And I swear to God, if I ever see the sun,,
Or for any length of time,,
I can hold it in my mind,,
I never again will go down underground.,
,
At the age of sixty-four,,
He will greet you at the door,,
And he will gently lead you by the arm,,
Through the dark recess of the mine,,
He will take you back in time,,
And he'll tell you of the hardships that were had.,
,
It's a Workin' Man I am,,
And I've been down underground,,

The Dutchman's not the kind of man
To keep his thumb jammed in the dam that holds his dreams in
But that's a secret only Margaret knows
When Amsterdam is golden
In the morning Margaret brings him breakfast, she believes him
He thinks the tulips bloom beneath the snow
He's mad as he can be, but Margaret only sees that sometimes
Sometimes she sees her unborn children in his eyes
Chorus:
Let us go to the banks of the ocean
Where the walls rise above the Zider Zee
Long ago, I used to be a young man
But dear Margaret remembers that for me
The Dutchman still wears wooden shoes
His cap and coat are patched with the love that Margaret sewed in
Sometimes he thinks he's still in Rotterdam
He watches tugboats down canals
And calls out to them when he thinks he knows the captain
'Till Margaret comes to take him home again
Through unforgiving streets that trip him though she holds his arm
Sometimes he thinks that he's alone and calls her name
Chorus:
Let us go to the banks of the ocean
Where the walls rise above the Zider Zee
Long ago, I used to be a young man
And dear Margaret remembers that for me
The windmills swirl the winter in
As she winds his muffler tighter, they sit in the kitchen
And the tea with whiskey keeps away the dew
He sees her for a moment
Calls her name, she makes his bed up, humming some old love song
She learned it when the tune was very new
He hums a line or two, they hum together in the night
The Dutchman falls asleep and Margaret blows the candle out
Chorus:
Let us go to the banks of the ocean
Where the walls rise above the Zider Zee
Long ago, I used to be a young man
But dear Margaret remembers that for me
Scorn Not His Simplicity
Do we know, Can we understand just how he feels, Or have we really tried?
See him now, As he stands alone, And watches children play a children's game,
Simple child, He looks almost like the others, Yet they know he's not the same.
Scorn not his simplicity,
But rather try to love him all the more.
Scorn not his simplicity,
Oh no!
See him stare, Not recognizing the kind face. That only yesterday he loved
The loving face, Of a mother who can't understand what she's been guilty of
How she cried tears of happiness the day the doctor told her “It’s a boy”
Now she cries tears of helplessness when she thinks of the things he can’t enjoy.
Scorn not his simplicity
But rather try to love him all the more
Scorn not his simplicity
Oh no
Oh no
Only he knows how to face the future hopefully, Surrounded by despair
He won't ask for your pity or your sympathy, But surely you should care
Scorn not his simplicity
But rather try to love him all the more
Scorn not his simplicity
Oh no
Oh no
Oh no
Past The Point Of Rescue
Larger than life again, holding me tight again
Placing those same kisses on my brow
Sweeter than ever now, lord I remember how
Couldn't get enough of kissing, do you know how much you're missing
No you don't, but I do
The days like a slow train trickle by
And even the words that I write refuse to fly
All I can hear is your song haunting me
Can't get the melody out of my head, you see
Distractions are amusing, do you know how much you're losing
No you don't, but I do
But I do, and I wonder if I'm past the point of rescue
Is no word from you at all the best that you can do
I never meant to push or shove you, do you know how much I love you
No you don't, but I do
I swore I'd never fall like this again
Fools like me never win, came to my knees again
Can't close the door on likely hood
Things might be just as good, I always believed they would
Gotta let your love invite me, baby do you think it might be
No you don't, but I do
But I do, and I wonder if I'm past the point of rescue
Is no word from you at all the best that you can do
I never meant to push or shove you, do you know how much I love you
No you don't, but I do
But I do, and I wonder if I'm past the point of rescue
Is no word from you at all the best that you can do
I never meant to push or shove you, do you know how much I love you
No you don't, but I do
I know you don't, but I do
I know you don't, but I do
MY LAGAN LOVE
There grows a lily fair
The twilight gleam is in her eye
The night is on her hair
And like a lovesick leannsidhe
She hath my heart enthrall
No life I own or liberty
For love is lord of all
And often when the beetle's tone
Has lulled the eve to sleep
I creep down to her sheeling low
And through the door I peep
There on the cricket's singing stone
She piles the bogwood fire
And sings in love's sweet undertones
A song of heart's desire
Kindred Spirits
An ‘Ave’ for my mother as her spirit slips away,
Away to join my father and to share eternity,
We call them kindred spirits now they will forever be.
So now they're reunited, smiling down from up above,
As fondly we remember the old house they filled with love,
How even through the hard times they were close as close could, be,
Just like the kindred spirits they will forever be.
Their love was as deep as the ocean,
Flying higher than the eagles would dare,
As strong as the mountains in Donegal,
As soft as a morning in Clair.
I can see her in the kitchen; I can smell the baking bread,
I can hear my father singing as he tucked us into bed,
They shared the load together, they were proud as proud could be,
And now those kindred spirits will share eternity.
They shared the load together, they were proud as proud could be,
They were always kindred spirits, now they will forever be.
For now those kindred spirits will share eternity.
Girls, Girls, Girls
Girls, girls, girls
Girls, girls, girls
Girls, girls, girls
Well, yellow, red, black or white, add a little bit of moonlight
For this intercontinental romance.
Shy girl, sexy girl, they all like that fancy world
Champagne, a gentle song and a slow dance.
Who makes it fun to spend your money?
Who calls you honey, most every day?
Girls, girls, girls -- Girls, girls, girls.
Well, they made 'em up in Hollywood, and put 'em into the movies
Those lovely photographic splendours
In and out of magazines, Miss World and beauty queens
Falling in love with the real big spenders.
But although their world may be frantic,
They're still romantic, in their own way
So hop on, the world is swinging
Don't sit and twiddle your thumbs
Get up and meet those pretty Girls, Girls, Girls
Step on, the world keeps swinging
Put on the dazzling charm
Get up and find those pretty girls.
But don't rush, keep it nice and gentle
And sentimental, for that certain moment.
Moonlit oceans, girls full of emotions
Stepping on that slow boat to China.
And next door, in Japan, they know how to please a man
Dropping in for tea with my geisha.
They've got that old-fashioned feeling
When it comes to pleasing, they know their way.
So hop on, the world is swinging
Don't sit and twiddle your thumbs
Get up and meet those pretty Girls.
Step on, the world keeps swinging
Put on the dazzling charm
Get up and find those pretty girls.
But don't rush, keep it nice and gentle
And sentimental, for that certain
Moment when you draw back the curtain
So hop on, the world is swinging
Don't sit and twiddle your thumbs
Get up and find those pretty girls
Girls, girls, girls
Girls, girls, girls
Girls, girls, girls, girls, girls
All Day Long
And all the time we spend apart that ticking tock clock seems to last for weeks.
Well I guess it is quite long to expect you to climb up here each week,
Yes I guess it ain’t so long four hours on a bus for you’s a treat.
And it wont be long x2
All day long I sit here, x 3
Thinkin’ ‘bout you.
Yes I know there’s a million miles and aeroplanes, they keep us apart,
But when I sit alone at night on my bus darling well your in my heart.
And it won’t be long x2
So complicated times have passed, but am sorry babe I feel the same for you.
Yes I know I broke it off but am sorry babe ya just didn’t stay true.
And it wont be long x2
All day long I sit here, thinkin’ ‘bout you.
This Is The Moment
This is the day,
When I send all my doubts and demons
On their way!
Every endeavor,
I have made - ever -
Is coming into play,
Is here and now - today!
This is the moment,
This is the time,
When the momentum and the moment
Are in rhyme!
Give me this moment -
This precious chance -
I'll gather up my past
And make some sense at last!
This is the moment,
When all I've done -
All the dreaming,
Scheming and screaming,
Become one!
This is the day -
See it sparkle and shine,
When all I've lived for
Becomes mine!
For all these years,
I've faced the world alone,
And now the time has come
To prove to them
I've made it on my own!
This is the moment -
My final test -
Destiny beckoned,
I never reckoned,
Second Best!
I won't look down,
I must not fall!
This is the moment,
The sweetest moment of them all!
This is the moment!
Damn all the odds!
This day, or never,
I'll sit forever
With the gods!
When I look back,
I will always recall,
Moment for moment,
This was the moment,
The greatest moment
Of them all!
You’ve Got A Friend In Me
You've got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you're miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
Just remember what your old pal said
‘Cos, you've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got troubles, well I've got 'em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
We stick together and we see it through
You've got a friend in me
Yeah! You've got a friend in me
Some other folks might be
A little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe
But none of them will ever love you the way I do
It's me and you, Boy!
And as the years go by
Boys, our friendship will never die
You're gonna see
It's our destiny
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
She’s Always A Woman To Me
She can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child,
But she's always a woman to me
She can lead you to love
She can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth
But she'll never believe you
And she'll take what you give her, as long as it's free
Yeah, she steals like a thief
But she's always a woman to me
CHORUS:
Oh--she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh--and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind
And she'll promise you more
Than the Garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you
And laugh while you're bleedin'
But she'll bring out the best
And the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself
Cause she's always a woman to me
--Mhmm--
Bridge
CHORUS:
Oh--she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh--and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind
She is frequently kind
And she's suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases
She's nobody's fool
And she can't be convicted
She's earned her degree
And the most she will do
Is throw shadows at you
But she's always a woman to me
--Mhmm--
SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW
Way up high,
There's a land that I’ve heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
RIDE ON
Standing 16' one or two, with eyes wild and green
You ride the horse so well, hands light to the touch
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you,
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
When you ride into the night, without a trace behind
Run your claw along my gut, one last time
I turn to face an empty space, where you used to lie
I look for the spark that lights the night
Through a teardrop in your eye
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
MY IRISH MOLLY-O
Down in a corner of my heart, a love is what you've found.
And every time I look into your eyes of Irish blue.
You seem to whisper in my ear ‘My love is all for you.' Oh,
Chorus:
Molly, my Irish Molly, my sweet acushla
dear,
I'm fairly off my trolley, my Irish Molly,
When you are near.
Springtime, is only ‘ringtime’,
Come dear now don't be slow,
Change your name, go on your game, Begora wouldn't I do the same My Irish Molly O!
Molly dear now did you hear I furnished up the flat.
Three little cosy rooms ‘n a bed ‘n a 'welcome' on the mat.
It's five pounds down and two a week, she'll soon be out of debt.
It's all complete except, they haven't brought the cradle yet.
Chorus:
Molly, my Irish Molly, my sweet acushla
dear,
I'm fairly off my trolley, my Irish Molly,
When you are near.
Springtime, is only ‘ringtime’,
Come dear now don't be slow,
Change your name, go on your game, Begora wouldn't I do the same My Irish Molly O!
Molly dear, and did you hear what all the neighbours say.
About those hundred sovereigns you have safely stowed away.
They say that's why I love you. Ah but Molly, that's a shame,
If you had only ninety-nine I'd love you just the same.
Ohhhh!
Chorus:
Molly, my Irish Molly, my sweet acushla
dear,
I'm fairly off my trolley, my Irish Molly,
When you are near.
Springtime, is only ‘ringtime’,
Come dear now don't be slow,
Change your name, go on your game, Begora wouldn't I do the same My Irish Molly O!
Change your name, go on your game, Begora wouldn't I do the same My Irish Molly O!
ISLE OF HOPE
They o-pened El-lis Is-land and they let the people through.
And the first to cross the thresh-old of that isle of hope and tears,
Was An-nie Moore from I-re-land
Who was all of fif-teen years.
Isle of hope, isle of tears, Isle of free-dom, isle of fears,
But it's not the isle you left be-hind.
That isle of hun-ger, isle of pain,
Isle you'll ne-ver see a-gain
But the isle of home is al-ways on your mind.
In a lit-tle bag she car-ried all her past and his-to-ry,
And her dreams for the fu-ture In the land of li-ber-ty.
And cour-age is the pas-sport when your old world dis-ap-pears
But there's no fu-ture in the past when you're fif-teen years
Isle of hope, isle of tears, isle of free-dom, isle of fears,
But it's not the isle you left be-hind.
That isle of hun-ger, isle of pain, isle you'll ne-ver see a-gain
But the isle of home is al-ways on your mind.
When they closed down El-lis Is-land In nine-teen for-ty three,
Se-ven-teen mil-lion peo-ple had come there for sanc-tua-ry.
And in spring-time when I came here and I stepped on-to it's piers,
I thought of how it must have been,
When you're fif-teen years.
Isle of hope, isle of tears, isle of free-dom, isle of fears,
But it's not the isle you left be-hind.
That isle of hun-ger, isle of pain, isle you'll ne-ver see a-gain
But the isle of home is al-ways on your mind.
The isle of home is al-ways on your mind.
Of a day -I-ay-I-ay
I met a little girl and we stopped to talk
Of a fine soft day -I-ay-I-ay
And I ask you, friend, what's a fella to do
'Cause her hair was black and her eyes were blue
And I knew right then I'd be takin' a whirl
'Round the Salthill Prom with a Galway girl
We were halfway there when the rain came down
Of a day -I-ay-I-ay
And she asked me up to her flat downtown
Of a fine soft day -I-ay-I-ay
And I ask you, friend, what's a fella to do
'Cause her hair was black and her eyes were blue
So I took her hand and I gave her a twirl
And I lost my heart to a Galway girl
When I woke up I was all alone
With a broken heart and a ticket home
And I ask you now, tell me what would you do
If her hair was black and her eyes were blue
I've traveled around I've been all over this world
Boys I ain't never seen nothin' like a Galway girl
DESPERADO
You've been out ridin' fences,
for so long - now.
Ohh you're a hard one.
I know that you've got your reasons.
These things that are pleasin'you
Can hurt you somehow.
Don't you draw the queen of diamonds boy
She'll beat you if she's able.
You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet.
Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table.
But you only want the ones
That you can't get.
Desperado,
Ohhhh you aint getting no younger.
Your pain and your hunger,
They're driving you home.
And freedom, ohh freedom.
Well that's just some people talking.
Your prison is walking through this world all alone.
Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun will shine.
It's hard to tell the night time from the day.
And you're losing all your highs and lows
aint it funny how the feeling goes
away...
Desperado,
Why don't you come to your senses?
come down from your fences, open the gate.
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you.
You better let somebody love you.
(let sombody love you)
You better let somebody love you...ohhh..hooo
before it's too..oooo.. late.
BLACK IS THE COLOUR
Her lips are like some roses fair
She’s the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands.
And I love the ground whereon she stands
I love my love and well she knows
I love the ground whereon she goes.
I wish the day will come it soon would come
When she and I could be as one
Black is the colour of my true love’s hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She’s the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands.
And I love the ground whereon she stands
I go to the Clyde and I mourn and weep
But satisfied I never can be
And I write her a letter, just a few short lines
And suffer death a thousand times
For black is the colour of my true love’s hair
Her lips are like red roses fair
She’s got the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands.
And I love the ground whereon she stands
For black is the colour of my true love’s hair
Her lips are like red roses fair
She’s the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands.
And I love the ground whereon she stands
For black is the colour of my true love’s hair
Ireland’s Call
Ireland
Side by side
We stand like brothers
One for all and all together
We will stay united through darker days
And we'll be unbeatable forever
Ireland, Ireland
Together standing tall
Shoulder to shoulder
We'll answer Ireland's call!
Come the day and come the hour
Some will live in song and story
We were born to follow our guiding star
And to meet our destiny with glory
Ireland, Ireland
Together standing tall
Shoulder to shoulder
We'll answer Ireland's call!
Hearts of steel and heads unbowing
Vowing never to be broken
We will fight, until we can fight no more
Till our final requiem is spoken
Ireland, Ireland
Together standing tall
Shoulder to shoulder
We'll answer Ireland's call!
Ireland, Ireland
Together standing tall
Shoulder to shoulder
We'll answer Ireland's call!
We'll answer Ireland's call!

Whiskey In The Jar
I saw Captain Farrell and his money he was counting
I first produced my pistols and I then produced my rapier
I said stand or deliver or the devil he may take you
Chorus
Musha ring dum a do dum a da.
Whack for my daddy-o,
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
I took all of his money and it was a pretty penny.
I took all of his money and I brought it home to Molly
She swore that she loved me never would she leave me
But the devil take that woman for you know she tricked me easy
Chorus
Musha ring dum a do dum a da.
Whack for my daddy-o,
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
Instrumental
‘Round ‘bout six or maybe seven, in walked Captain Farrell.
I jumped up, fired off my pistols and I shot him with both barrels.
Chorus
Musha ring dum a do dum a da.
Whack for my daddy-o,
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
And some men like to hear, the cannon ball a roarin'.
Me? I like sleepin' especially in my Molly's chamber.
But here I am in prison, here I am with ball and chain, yeah.
Chorus
Musha ring dum a do dum a da.
Whack for my daddy-o,
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
Music To Watch The Girls By
Eye to eye, they solemnly convene to make the scene
Which is the name of the game, watch a guy watch a dame on any street in town
Up and down and over and across, romance is boss
Guys talk "girl talk", it happens everywhere
Eyes watch girls walk with tender lovin' care
It's keepin' track of the fact watching them watching back
That makes the world go 'round
"What's that sound?" each time you hear a loud collective sigh
They're making music to watch girls by
Guys talk "girl talk", it happens everywhere
Eyes watch girls walk with tender lovin' care
It's keepin' track of the fact watching them watching back
That makes the world go 'round
"What's that sound?" each time you hear a loud collective sigh
They're making music to watch girls by
The boys watch the girls while the girls watch the boys who watch the girls go by
Eye to eye, they solemnly convene to make the scene
La, la, la ,la
Song For The Mira
Old men go fishing with black line and spoons;
And if they catch nothing they never complain,
And I wish I was with them again.
As boys in the boats call to girls on the shore,
Teasing the ones that they dearly adore;
And into the evening the courting begins,
And I wish I was with them again.
(Chorus)
Can you imagine a piece of the universe,
More fit for princes and kings?
I'll trade you ten of your cities for Marion Bridge,
And the pleasure it brings.
Out on the Mira on soft summer nights,
Bonfires blaze to the children's delight;
They dance 'round the flames singing songs with their friends,
And I wish I was with them again.
And over the ashes the stories are told,
Of witches and werewolves and Oak Island gold;
Stars on the river-face sparkle and spin,
I wish I was with them again.
(Chorus)
Can you imagine a piece of the universe,
More fit for princes and kings?
I'll trade you ten of your cities for Marion Bridge,
And the pleasure it brings.
Out on the Mira, the people are kind,
They'll treat you to homebrew, and help you unwind;
And if you come broken they'll see that you mend,
I wish I was with them again.
Now I'll conclude with a wish you go well,
Sweet be your dreams, and your happiness swell;
I'll leave you here, for my journey begins,
I'm going to be with them again.
The Maid Of Culmore
There is no finer harbour all around can be found,
Where the youngsters each evening go down to the shore,
And the joy bells are ringing for the maid of Culmore.
The first time I saw her she passed me by,
And the next time that I saw her she bid me goodbye,
But the last time I saw her it grieved my heart sore,
For she sailed down Loch Foyle and away from Culmore.
If I had the power the storms for to rise,
I would make the wind blow out and I'd darken the skies,
I'd make the wind blow high and the salt seas to roar,
Till the day that my darling sailed away from Culmore.
To the back parts of Americay my love I'll go seek,
For it's there I know no-one and no-one knows me,
But if I don't find her I'll return home no more,
Like a pilgrim I'll wander for the maid of Culmore.
RED ROSE CAFÉ
And they all soon forget who they are.
The cares of today are soon washed away
As they sit at a stool by the bar.
The girl with green eyes in the Rolling Stones shirt
Doesn’t look like she works on the land.
The man at the end, he’s a very good friend
Of a man who sells cars second hand.
Down at the Red Rose Café in the Harbour
There by the port just outside Amsterdam.
Everyone shares in the songs and the laughter.
Everyone there is so happy to be there.
The salesmen relax with a few pints of beer
As they try not to speak about trade.
The poet won’t write any verses tonight.
He may sing a sweet serenade.
So pull up a chair and forget about life.
It’s a good thing to do now and then
And if you like it here I have an idea
Tomorrow let’s all meet again.
Down at the Red Rose Café in the Harbour
There by the port just outside Amsterdam.
Everyone shares in the songs and the laughter.
Everyone there is so happy to be there.
Everyone there is so happy to be there.
MOONDANCE
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are fallin'
To the sound of the breezes that blow
An' I'm trying to please to the callin'
Of your heart strings that play soft and low
And all the nights magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush
Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with you, my love?
Well, I wanna make love to you tonight
I can't wait 'til the morning has come
And I know now the time is just right
And straight in to my arms you will run
And when you come, my heart will be waiting
To make sure that you're never alone
There and then, all my dreams will come true, dear
There and then, I will make you my own
And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
And I know how much you want me that you can't hide
Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with you, my love?
Well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart strings that play soft and low
And all the nights magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush
Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with you, my love?
One more moon dance with you
In the moon light, on a magic night
All the moon light, on a magic night
Can I just have one more moondance with you, my love?
HALLELUJAH
I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It’s not a cry you can hear at night
It’s not someone who has seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
THE CLANCY BROTHER’S MEDLEY
I'll tell my ma when I get home,
The boys won't leave the girls alone
They pull my hair and stole my comb
But that's all right till I go home
She is handsome, she is pretty,
She is the Belle of Belfast city
She is a courtin' one, two, three,
Please won't you tell me who is she
Let the wind and the rain and the hail blow high
And the snow come travellin' through the sky
She's as sweet as apple pie,
She'll get her own lad by and by
When she gets a lad of her own
She won't tell her ma when she gets home
Let them all come as they will
For it's Albert Mooney she loves still
(Courtin’ In The Kitchen)
Come single belle and beau,
Unto me pay attention
Don't ever fall in love,
Tis the devil's own invention
For once I fell in love
With a maiden so bewitchin'
Miss Henrietta Bell
Down in Captain Kelly's Kitchen.
With me too-rah-loo-rah-lay,
Me too-rah-loo-rah-laddie.
She slipped up to her room, I said: "Good Lord Almighty!"
She came back down the stairs wearing nothing but her nighty!
With her arms around me waist she slyly hinted marriage
When to the door in haste came Captain Kelly's carriage!
With me too-rah-loo-rah-lay,
Me too-rah-loo-rah-laddie.
(The Irish Rover )
On the fourth of July eighteen hundred and six
We set sail from the sweet cove of Cork
We were sailing away with a cargo of bricks
For the grand city hall in New York
'Twas a wonderful craft, she was rigged fore-and-aft
And oh, how the wild winds drove her.
She'd got several blasts, she'd twenty-seven masts
And we called her the Irish Rover.
We had sailed seven years when the measles broke out
And the ship lost it's way in a fog.
And that whale of the crew was reduced down to two,
Just meself and the captain's old dog.
Then the ship struck a rock, oh Lord what a shock
The bulkhead was turned right over
Turned nine times around, and the poor dog was drowned
I'm the last of the Irish Rover
Thinking of you till it hurts
I know you hurt too but what else can we do
Tormented and torn apart
I wish I could carry your smile and my heart
For times when my life feels so low
It would make me believe what tomorrow could bring
When today doesn't really know, doesn't really know
Chorus:
I 'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you
I know you were right believing for so long
I 'm all out of love, what am I without you
I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong
I want you to come back and carry me home
Away from this long lonely nights
I'm reaching for you, are you feeling it too
Does the feeling seem oh so right
And what would you say if I called on you now
And said that I can't hold on
There's no easy way, it gets harder each day
Please love me or I'll be gone, I'll be gone
Chorus
Oh, what are you thinking of?
What are you thinking of?
Oh, what are you thinking of?
What are you thinking of?
Chorus(3x)
A Place In The Choir
All God's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
All God's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
(Instrumental)
Listen to the top with the little birds singing
And the melodies and the high notes ringing
And the hoot-owls cries over everything
And the blackbird disagrees
Singing in the night-time, singing in the day
And the little duck quacks and he's on his way
And the otter hasn't got much to say
And the porcupine talks to himself
CHORUS
All God's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
(Instrumental)
The dogs and the cats they take up the middle
Where the honey bee hums and the cricket fiddles
The donkey brays and the pony neighs
And the old grey badger sighs oh
Listen to the bass it's the one at the bottom
Where the bullfrog croaks and the hippopotamus
Moans and groans in the big tattoo
And the old cow just goes "moo"
CHORUS
All God's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
(Instrumental)
It's a simple song, a little one sung everywhere
By the ox and the fox and the grizzly bear
The dopey alligator and the hawk above
The sly old weasel and the turtle-dove
CHORUS
All God's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
All God's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
All God's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now
All God's creatures got a place in the choir
Friends In Low Places
I showed up in boots
And ruined your black tie affair
The last one to know
The last one to show
I was the last one
You thought you'd see there
And I saw the surprise
And the fear in his eyes
When I took his glass of champagne
And I toasted you
Said, honey, we may be through
But you'll never hear me complain
'Cause I've got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh, I've got friends in low places
Well, I guess I was wrong
I just don't belong
But then, I've been there before
Everything's all right
I'll just say goodnight
And I'll show myself to the door
Hey, I didn't mean
To cause a big scene
Just give me an hour and then
Well, I'll be as high
As that ivory tower
That you're livin' in
'Cause I've got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh, I've got friends in low places
Danny Boy
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.
And if you come, when all the flowers are dying And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me And o’er my grave will warm and sweeter be
And you will bend and tell me that you love me
And I will sleep in peace until you come to me
Cats In The Cradle
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home dad?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then
My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today
I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then
Well, he came home from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then
I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"
And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then
Always There
And I just can't face the day
When darkness falls around me
And I just can't find my way
When my eyes don't clearly see
And I stumble through it all
You, I lean upon, you keep me strong
And you raise me when I fall
You are there when I most need you
You are there so constantly
You come shining through, you always do
You are always there for me
When life brings me to my knees
When my back's against the wall
You are standing there right with me
Just to keep me standing tall
Though a burden, I may be
You don't weary, you don't rest
You are reaching out to carry me
And I know I'm heaven blessed
You are there when I most need you
You are there so constantly
You come shining through, you always do
You are always there for me
You are there when I most need you
You are there so constantly
You come shining through, you always do
You are always there for me
There when I most need you
There so constantly
You come shining through, you always do
You are always there for me
You come shining through, you always do
You are always there for me
Carolina Rua
Mo Carolina Rua has a hand in my confusion.
She waits for me to choose which quarter to bend in.
To susie-make-me-blue, or the redhead I’m attending.
Now Carolina Rua has my heart and all I want to do
Is go down the winding road where my Carolina goes:
Down the crooked road where Carolina goes to
Mo Carolina Rua, do you love me?
Tell me true, Carolina ooh oh ooh oh
INSTRUMENTAL X1
Standing on three queens, I thought the game was over.
Then, out from the blue, Carolina’s at my shoulder:
with laughter in her eyes and a smile that touches all the guys
On down the winding road where my Carolina goes:
Down the crooked road where Carolina goes to
Mo Carolina Rua, do you love me?
Tell me true, Carolina ooh oh ooh oh
INSTRUMENTAL X 1
Mo Carolina Rua has my heart and all I want to do
Is go down the winding road where my Carolina goes:
Down the crooked road where Carolina goes to ,
Mo Carolina Rua, do you love me?
Tell me true, Tell me true.

CARRICKFERGUS
Only for nights in Ballygran
I would swim over the deepest ocean
The deepest ocean for my love to find
But the sea is wide and I cannot swim over
And nor have I the wings to fly
If I could find me a lonesome boatman
To ferry me over my love and I
My childhood days bring back sad reflections
Of happy time I spent so long ago
My boyhood friends and my own relations
Have all passed on now like the melted snow
So I’ll spend my days in endless roving
Soft is the grass my bed is free
Ah, to be home now in Carrickfergus
On that long road down to the sea
And in Kilkenny it is reported
On marble stone there as black as ink
With gold and silver I would support her
But I'll sing no more now till I get a drink
For I'm drunk today and I'm seldom sober
A handsome rover from town to town
Ah but I am sick now my days are numbered
Come all ye young men and lay me down
DANNY BOY
The flowers are all dying,
The meadow is white with a winters snow, 'Lone as I stand at the place where Danny's lying
I say a silent prayer,somehow I know
He hears me there so soft i tread above him,for now he sleeps in peace
We hear Danny's voice no more
Music interlude
O Danny boy the pipes the pipes are calling from glen to glen and down the mountain side,
The summers gone and all the flowers are dying, tis you tis you must go and I must bide
But come ye back when summers in the meadow,or when the valleys hushed and white with snow
Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow oh Danny boy oh Danny boy I love you so
But when you come and all the flowers are dying
If I am dead as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying and kneel and say an Ave there for me
And I shall hear how soft you tread above me,and Oer my grave shall Warmer sweeter be
And you will bend and tell me that you love me,and I will sleep in peace until you come to me
Dearg Doom
My heart is older than the cold oak tree.
I am the flash of silver in the sun.
When you see me coming you had better
Run...run...run...
From Dearg Doom.
You speak in whispers of the devils I have
Slain,
By the fire of my silver Devil's Blade,
And still you dare to flaunt yourself at me.
I don't want you, I don't need you,
I don't love you, can't you see
I'm Dearg Doom.
And when the stars go out
You can hear me shout
"Two heads are better than none,
One hundred heads are so much better
Than one".
I'm a boy who was born blind to pain
And, like a hawk, I'll swoop and
Swoop again.
I am the flash of hawkeye in the sun.
When you see me coming you had
Better run...run...run...
Galileo
And he wondered what in heaven who invented such a joy.
But the question got the better of his scientific mind,
And to his blind and dying gaze,
He looked up high and often sighed,
And sometimes cried,
Who puts the rainbow in the sky?
Who lights the stars at night?
Who dreamt up someone so divine?
Someone like you and made them mine?
Love can make you ask some funny questions now and then.
But just remember the alternatives for I remember when
I was lonely and unhappy,
And my lips were cold as ice.
But you kissed me, and good heavens,
Now I'm here in paradise,
So if ever I'm not kissing you or looking in your eyes.
I won't be blind, and I won't cry.
I'll look up high and gladly sigh,
And thank the guy,
Who puts the rainbow in the sky?
Who lights the stars at night?
Who dreamt up someone so divine?
Someone like you and made them mine?
Someone like you and made them mine?
House Of The Rising Sun
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know I'm one
My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gamblin' man
Down in New Orleans
Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and trunk
And the only time he's satisfied
Is when he's on a drunk
Oh mother tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In the House of the Rising Sun
Well, I got one foot on the platform
The other foot on the train
I'm goin' back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain
Well, there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know I'm one
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know I'm one
THE HUNTER'S MOON
No more to say
Time I was gone now
Why would I stay?
Don't rake the ashes
I'll take the lashes
You go now
I'll walk away.
No cause to wonder
No one's immune
I kissed you under
The hunter’s moon.
You wander free now
Don't look for me now
You go now
Before you,
Find your dreams are strewn
Beneath that icy hunter's moon
Dying all too soon
Beneath the hunter's savage moon
Time I was gone now
Anchors aweigh
I'm moving on now
Just one more day
I'll let you go now
How do we know though?
Who hunted?
Who was the prey?
You and I
Flew too high
Now we're falling free
Through the night
Burning bright
And colder than the sea
Now our dreams are strewn
Beneath that icy hunter's moon
Dying all too soon
Beneath the hunter's savage moon
Souls are out of tune
That kiss beneath that hunter's moon
Harsh and out of tune
And cursed to wander here and there forever,
I am the man of constant sorrow
I've seen trouble all my days
I bid farewell to ol' Kentucky
The place where I was born and raised.
(The place where he was born and raised)
For six long years I've been in trouble,
no pleasure here on earth I've found
For in this world, I'm bound to ramble,
I have no friends to help me now.
(He has no friends to help him now)
It's fair thee well, my old true lover,
I ne’er expect to see you again.
For I'm bound to ride that Northern Railroad,
perhaps I'll die upon this train
(Perhaps he'll die upon this train)
You can bury me in some deep valley,
For many years where I may lay.
And you may learn to love another
while I am sleeping in my grave.
(While he is sleeping in his grave)
Maybe your friends think I'm just a stranger
My face you’ll never see no more
But there is one promise that is given,
I'll meet you on Gods golden shore
(He'll meet you on God's golden shore)
The Isle Of Inisfree
And I've no doubt there's truth in what they say,
But sure a body's bound to be a dreamer
When all the things he loves are far away.
And precious things are dreams unto an exile.
They take him o'er the land across the sea --
Especially when it happens he's an exile
From that dear lovely Isle of Inisfree.
And when the moonlight peeps across the rooftops
Of this great city, wondrous though it be,
I scarcely feel its wonder or its laughter.
I'm once again back home in Inisfree.
I wander o'er green hills through dreamy valleys
And find a peace no other land could know.
I hear the birds make music fit for angels
And watch the rivers laughing as they flow.
And then into a humble shack I wander --
My dear old home -- and tenderly behold
The folks I love around the turf fire gathered.
On bended knee ,the rosary is told.
But dreams don't last --
Though dreams are not forgotten --
And soon I'm back to stern reality.
But though they pave the footways here with gold dust,
I still would choose the Isle of Inisfree.
I still would choose the Isle of Inisfree.
Katie
And a yellow coloured lampshade used to keep us up all night
The smile upon your face, the tears upon your cheek
And the night sky on the window
Your heart calling out to me.
Come running home again, Katie
Come running home again
Cross my heart and hope to die
Shall I cause another tear from your eye
The mirror that won't talk and your nightgown on the door
And the old pedal Singer just don't sing no more
You can roll the reels for hours
From the movie of this book
It's a question mark on this heart of mine
sends an elder back to look.
Come running home again, Katie
Come running home again
Cross my heart and hope to die
Shall I cause another tear from your eye
Now I'm looking through a tunnel
Back into the room
With the genius of a druid when the sunlight floods the tomb.
And I'm never going back there, I couldn't anyway
And though I made the great escape
I never got away.
Come running home again, Katie
Come running home again
Cross my heart and hope to die
Shall I cause another tear from your eye
Come running home again, Katie
Come running home again
Cross my heart and hope to die
Shall I cause another tear from your eye
When I was a silly boy
I didn’t need a thing,
I was strong as anything,
I viewed solitude as a joy
But since I met you I’m distraught
You wandered in and now I’m caught
I never thought I would see
Someone so truly good
Some one who’s so everything I’m not
I want to spend my life with you
Don’t want to live all alone
I can’t conceive of the years left in me
Without you in our home
But what if, what if, what if what
If it’s not perfect then it’s not
But every care I’ll take
Nothing I won’t forsake
To dwell beside what you’ve got
Every time I think about you
I think I can’t live with you
I’ll tell you something
I am nothing without you
I want to spend my life with you
Don’t want to live all alone
I can’t conceive of the years left in me
Without you in our home
I want to spend my life with you
Don’t want to live all alone
I can’t conceive of the years left in me
Without you in our home (2x)
My Land
Your mountains stand tall in their glory:
Your rivers run free - the bright stars are your eyes,
Your beauty is endless before me.
Oh, you are the song ever singing in me,
And you are the heart ever true:
For, you are my land and you always will be,
The voice ever calling me… home to you.
When times we are far from your forests and streams,
When sailing from your shining waters:
We carry your hopes - your spirit, your dreams-
In the hearts of your sons and your daughters.
CHORUS
When to your green valleys some day I return,
When you lay your mantle around me:
At rest I will be where the heart will not yearn,
With my land to ever…surround me.
CHORUS
The voice ever calling me…home to you.

I need someone who really cares.
Life is too short to play silly games
I've promised myself I won't do that again.
It's got to be perfect,
It's got to be worth it. Yeah!
Too many people take second best
But I won't take anything less
It's got to be Mmmm!
Perfect.
Young hearts are foolish they make such mistakes
They're much too eager to give their love away.
Well I have been foolish too many times
But now I'm determined I'm gonna get it right.
It's got to be perfect,
It's got to be worth it. Yeah!
Too many people take second best
But I won't take anything less
It's got to be Mmmm!

Rock ‘n’ Roll Kids
I was sixteen and so were you
And we lived next door,
On the avenue.
Jerry Lee was big and Elvis too;
Blue jeans and blue suede shoes,
And we never knew
What life held in store.
We just wanted to rock 'n' roll forever more.
We were the Rock 'n' Roll Kids
And Rock 'n' Roll was all we did
And listening to those songs on the radio;
I was yours and you were mine
But that was once upon a time,
Now we never seem to Rock 'n' Roll anymore.
Now Johnny's in love with the girl next door,
And Mary's down at the record store,
They don't want to be...around us no more.
"Golden Oldies" but we hardly speak
Too busy running to a different beat
Hard to understand, we were once like them.
How I wish we could find those Rock 'n' Roll days again.
We were the Rock 'n' Roll Kids
And Rock 'n' Roll was all we did,
And listening to those songs on the radio;
I was yours and you were mine,
But that was once upon a time,
Now we never seem to Rock and Roll…
We never seem to Rock and Roll…
We just never seem to Rock and Roll anymore.
Rosa

How long's it this time
Another lifetime
All I want is to be with you
So hold me in your arms
Don't let go, take me with you...
When will you come back to me
I'm falling for you now
I'm falling for you now
I'm Gonna catch the world for you
Wrap it up, it's all for you
I've fallng for you now
I'm making my way back home
Just to see your face
Rosa, Rosa
Now don't you worry
I never left you
I am the angel by your side
We've made this promise
We'll never break it
Your in my heart
Your always on my mind
So hold me in your arms
Don't let go, take me with you
When will you come back to me
I'm Falling for you now
You know I'm falling for you now
I'm gonna catch the world for you
And wrap it up, it's all for you
I'm falling for you now
I'm making my way back home
Just to see your face
Rosa, Rosa, Rosa, Rosa
Now don't you worry
I've never left you
Scarlet Ribbons
When I heard my child in prayer
And for me, some scarlet ribbons
Scarlet ribbons for my hair
All the stores were closed and shuttered
All the streets were dark and bare
In our town, no scarlet ribbons
Not one ribbon for her hair
Through the night my heart was aching
Just before the dawn was breaking
I peeked in and on her bed
In gay profusion lying there
Lovely ribbons, scarlet ribbons
Scarlet ribbons for her hair
If I live to be a hundred
I will never know from where
Came those lovely scarlet ribbons
Scarlet ribbons for her hair
Scarlet ribbons for her hair
SEVEN DRUNKEN NIGHTS
I saw a horse outside the door where my old horse should be
So I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that horse outside the door where my old horse should be?
Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
That's a lovely sow that me mother sent to me
Well, many is a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But a sow with a saddle on sure I never seen before
Now as I came home on Tuesday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a coat behind the door where my old coat should be
So I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that coat behind the door where my old coat should be
Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
That's a lovely blanket that me mother sent to me
Well, many is a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But buttons in a blanket sure I never seen before
And as I went home on Wednesday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a pipe up on the chair where my old pipe should be
Well, I called the wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that pipe up on the chair where my old pipe should be
Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
That's a lovely tin whistle that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But tobacco in a tin whistle sure I never seen before
And as I went home on Thursday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw two boots beneath the bed where my two boots should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns those boots beneath the bed where my old boots should be
Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
They're two lovely Geranium pots me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But laces in Geranium pots I never seen before
And as I went home on Friday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a head upon the bed where my old head should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that head upon the bed where my old head should be
Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
Still you can not see
That's a baby boy that my mother send to me
Hey, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But a baby boy with wiskers on ive never seen before
She Moved Through The Fair
And my father won't slight you for your lack of kine,'
She went away from me and this she did say,
'It will not be long, love, till our wedding day.'
She went away from me and she moved through the fair,
And slowly I watched her move here and move there,
She went his way homeward with one star awake,
As the swan in the evening moves over the lake.
The people were saying no two were e'er wed
But one has a sorrow that never was said,
And I smiled as she passed with her goods and her gear,
And that was the last that I saw of my dear.
I dreamt last night that my young love came in,
She came in so sweetly, her feet made no din;
She stepped up beside me, and this she did say,
'It will not be long love, till our wedding day.
Star of the County Down
One morning last July,
Down a boreen green came a sweet colleen,
And she smiled as she passed me by.
She looked so sweet, from her two bare feet
To the sheen of her nut-brown hair.
Such a coaxing elf, sure I shook myself
For to see I was really there.
From Bantry Bay down to Derry Quay,
And from Galway to Dublin Town,
No maid I've seen like the brown colleen
That I met in the County Down.
As she onward sped, sure I scratched my head,
And I looked with a feeling rare.
And I says, says I, to a passer-by,
"Who's the maid with the nut-brown hair?"
He smiled at me, and he said, said he,
"She's the gem of Ireland's crown,
Young Rosie McCann from the banks of the Bann,
She's the Star of the County Down."
I've travelled a bit but was never smit
Since my roving career began.
But fair and square, I surrendered there
To the charms of Rose McCann.
I'd a heart to let, and no tenant yet
Had I met in a shawl or gown.
But in she went, and I asked no rent
From the Star of the County Down.
At the harvest fair, she'll be surely there,
So I'll dress in my Sunday clothes,
With my shoes shone bright and my hat cocked right
For a smile from my nut-brown rose.
No pipe I'll smoke, no horse I'll yoke,
'Til my plough is a rust-coloured brown,
'Til a smiling bride by my own fireside
Sits the Star of the County Down.
Streets Of New York
With a fistful of money and a cartload of dreams
"Take your time" said me father
Stop rushing like hell and remember all’s not what it seems to be
For there's fellas would cut ye for the coat on yer back
Or the watch that you got from your mother
So take care me young bucko
And mind yourself well and will ya give this wee note to me brother
At the time Uncle Benjy was a policeman in Brooklyn
And me father the youngest, looked after the farm
When a phone-call from America said
'Send the lad over'
And the oul’ fella said 'Sure wouldn't do any harm'
For I've spent me life working this dirty old ground
For a few pints of porter and the smell of a pound
And sure maybe there's something you'll learn or you'll see
And you can bring it back home make it easy on me
So I landed in Kennedy and a big yellow taxi
Carried me and me bags through the streets and the rain
Well me poor heart was thumpin’ around with excitement
And I hardly even heard what the driver was sayin’
We came in the Shore Parkway through the flatlands of Brooklyn
To me Uncle's apartment on East 53rd
I was feeling so happy I was humming a song
And I sang "You're as free as a bird"
Well to shorten the story what I found out that day
Was that Benjy got shot down in an uptown foray
And while I was flying my way to New York
Poor Benjy was lying in a cold city morgue.
Well I phoned up the old fella told him the news
I could tell he could hardly stand up in his shoes and he wept as he told me
'Go ahead with the plans
Never forget be a proud Irishman
So I went to Nellies beside Fordham road
And I started to learn about lifting the load
But the heaviest thing that I carried that year
Was the bittersweet thought of my hometown so dear
I went home that December 'cause the oul’ fella died,
Had to borrow some money from Phil on the side
And all the bright flowers and brass couldn't hide
The poor wasted face of my father
I sold up the oul’ farmyard for what it was worth
And into my bag stuck a handful of earth
Then I caught me a train and I boarded a plane
And I found myself back in the US again
It's been 22yrs since I've set foot in Dublin
Me kids know to use the correct knife and fork
But I'll never forget the green grass and the rivers
As I keep law and order on the streets of New York.
Summer In Dublin
I wanted to see you, and now that I have, I just want to be left alone,
I'll always remember your kind words, and I'll still remember your name,
But I've seen you changing and turning, and I know that things just won't be the same.
I remember that summer in Dublin, and the Liffey as it stank like hell,
And the young people walking on Grafton Street, and everyone looking so well,
I was singing a song I heard somewhere, called "Rock'n'Roll Never Forgets",
When my hummin' was smothered by a Forty Six ‘A’ and the scream of a low-flying jet.
INSTRUMENTAL
So I'm leavin' on Wednesday morning tryin' to find a place where I can hear
The wind and the birds and the sea on the rocks, where open roads always are near,
And if sometimes I tire of the quiet, and I want to walk back up that hill,
I'll just get on the road and I’ll stick out my thumb.
‘Cause I know for sure you'll be there still.
I remember that summer in Dublin, and the Liffey as it stank like hell,
And the young people walking on Grafton Street, and everyone looking so well,
So I jumped on a bus to Dun Laoire, stoppin' off to pick up my guitar,
And a drunk on the bus told me how to get rich. I was glad we weren't goin' too far.
And if sometimes I tire of the quiet, and I want to walk back up that hill,
I'll just get on the road and I’ll stick out my thumb.
‘Cause I know for sure you'll be there still.
Camels sail like wooden ships, like women down the strand
There's sand on second avenue and the wind blows like a train
Taxis line up like a string of pearls, around the block again
I remembered everything and every window pane
Every word came back to me and I was superman
But then I saw your face across the street
Through the tears of Herculesz
There's a bus that leaves at 8:15 and another one at ten
Should I climb aboard, risk everything, and ride it to the end?
Watch the hills like roller coasters up against the sky
Wish that you were here by me, so close that I could die
You said love wrecks everything and none of us survive
But I got over you tonight inside this empty dive
Till I saw your face across the street
Through the tears of Hercules
I remembered everything and every window pane
Every word came back to me and I was superman again
Till I saw your face across the street
Through the tears of Hercules
The Boys Are Back in Town
Them wild-eyed boys that'd been away,
Haven't changed, had much to say,
But man, I still think them cats are crazy.
They were askin' if you were around,
How you was, where you could be found.
Told them you were livin' downtown,
Drivin' all the old men crazy.
The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town).
I said The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town.
The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town).
The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town).
You know that chick that used to dance a lot,
Every night, she'd be on the floor, shakin' what she's got.
Man, when I tell ya she was cool, she was red hot.
I mean she was steamin'.
And that time over at Johnny's place,
Well, this chick, she got up and slapped Johnny's face,
Man, we just fell about the place,
If that chick don't wanna know, forget her.
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town.
I said The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town.
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town.
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town.
Spread the word around guess who's back in town
You spread the word around
Friday night they'll be dressed to kill,
Down at Dino's bar and grill
The drink will flow, and blood will spill,
And if the boys wanna fight you better let 'em.
That jukebox in the corner blasting out my favorite song,
The nights are gettin' warmer, it won't be long,
Won't be long 'til summer comes,
Now that the boys are here again.
The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town).
The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town).
The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town).
Spread the word around
The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town).
The boys are back, the boys are back.
The boys are back in town again
They're hangin' down at Dino's
The boys are back in town again!
The Edge Of The Moon
She sings him a song
He loves to listen
He reads her a story
She plays a sweet tune
Chopin and Mozart she loves with her heart
Her guardian angel, looks down from the moon
He rings the bells nightly
She prays for their freedom
He stands at the pulpit
She stays in her room
Scarlatti and Haydn, she loves with her heart
Her guardian angel looks down from the moon
She prays for the vision
He hopes she won’t see it
She wishes for winter
He knows it won’t come
Summer and Autumn cry whisper the wind song
Her guardian angel looks down from the moon
He closes the curtains
She takes to her bed now
He waits in the doorway
She stays in her room
Beautiful music sweet songs filled with glory
Her guardian angel looks down from the moon
She waves her goodbye from, the edge of the moon
We'll eat here, close by the door.
I'm not very hungry now are you?
Is it ok, if I share yours with you?
I've got no money and I think, I believe that you knew.
Remember the moon, on the water how she'd shine?
The taste of the sheets, and the feel of the wine.
Wasn't I glad, that you were mine
In the Grande Affaire?
Take a boat, or maybe a plane,
Anywhere now except Greece or Spain.
For sure I know where I am,
I see canals, this is Amsterdam.
Friends here and they know, they can say who I am.
Remember the room without any view?
Frightened we'd meet, someone that we knew,
No farewells or how-do-you-dos
In the Grande Affaire.
Now I stay, at the best hotels,
And there's white coated waiters attend me,
And I look, at the beautiful girls,
Do they really believe they can win me?
I drive now, it's seldom I walk.
Speak French, but I'd rather not talk.
And which suit will I wear tonight?
Take out the brown, but in the end wear the white.
After shade stepping out, stepping into the light.
Remember the moon on the water how she'd shine,
The year was all wrong, so we sent back the wine,
And wasn't I glad that you were mine,
In the Grande Affaire?
One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!
Twas in the merry month of May, from me home I started,
Left the girls in Tuam, nearly broken hearted,
Saluted father dear, kissed me darling mother,
Drank a pint of beer, me grief and tears to smother,
Then off to reap the corn, leave where I was born
Cut a stout black thorn to banish ghosts and goblin;
Bought a pair of brogues, rattling o’er the bogs
And fright'ning all the dogs on the rocky road to Dublin.
Chorus
One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!
In Mullingar that night I rested limbs so weary,
Started by daylight next morning blithe and early,
Took a drop of pure to keep me heart from sinking;
Thats a Paddy's cure whenever he's on drinking.
See the lassies smile, laughing all the while
At me curious style, 'twould set your heart a bubblin'
Asked me was I hired, wages I required,
I was almost tired of the rocky road to Dublin.
Chorus
One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!
In Dublin next arrived, I thought it such a pity
To be soon deprived a view of that fine city.
So then I took a stroll, all among the quality;
Me bundle it was stole, all in a neat locality.
Something crossed me mind, when I looked behind,
No bundle could I find upon me stick a wobblin'
Enquiring for the rogue, they said me Connaught brogue
Wasn't much in vogue on the rocky road to Dublin.
Chorus
One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!
From there I got away, me spirits never falling,
Landed on the quay, just as the ship was sailing.
The Captain at me roared, said that no room had he;
When I jumped aboard, a cabin found for Paddy.
Down among the pigs, played some hearty rigs,
Danced some hearty jigs, the water round me bubbling;
When off Holyhead I wished meself was dead,
Or better for instead on the rocky road to Dublin.
Chorus
One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!
The boys of Liverpool, when we safely landed,
Called meself a fool, I could no longer stand it.
Blood began to boil, temper I was losing;
Poor old Erin's Isle they began abusing.
"Hurrah me soul" says I, me Shillelagh I let fly.
Some Galway boys were by, saw I was a hobble in,
With a load "Hurray !" joined in the affray.
We quickly cleared the way for the rocky road to Dublin.
Chorus
One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!
Chorus
One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!
The Sound Of Silence
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools", said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence
The Thunder Rolls
Not a soul in sight
The city's lookin' like a ghost town
On a moonless summer night
Raindrops on the windshield
There's a storm moving in
He's headin' back from somewhere
That he never should have been
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
Every light is burnin'
In a house across town
She's pacin' by the telephone
In her faded flannel gown
Askin' for miracle
Hopin' she's not right
Prayin' it's the weather
That's kept him out all night
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
The thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
She's waitin' by the window
When he pulls into the drive
She rushes out to hold him
Thankful he's alive
But on the wind and the rain
A strange new perfume blows
And the lightnin' flashes in her eyes
And he knows that she knows
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
The thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
Turning Away
In daylight we're oblivion
Our hearts so raw and clear
Are turning away, turning away from here
On the water we have walked
Like the fearless child
What was fastened we've unlocked
Revealing wondrous wild
And in search of confirmation
We have jumped into the fire
And scrambled with our burning feet
Through uncontrolled desire
In darkness we do what we can
In daylight we're oblivion
Our hearts so raw and clear
Are turning away, turning away from here
There's a well upon the hill
From our ancient past
Where an age is standing
Still holding strong and fast
And there's those that try to tame it
And to carve it into stone
Ah but words cannot extinguish it
However hard they're thrown
In darkness we do what we can
In daylight we're oblivion
Our hearts so raw and clear
Are turning away, turning away from here
By Loch Etive they have worked
With their highland dreams
By Kilcrennan they have nourished
In the mountain streams.
And in searching for acceptance
They had given it away
Only the children of their children know
The price they had to pay
In darkness we do what we can
In daylight we're oblivion
Our hearts so raw and clear
Are turning away, turning away from here

SPANISH LADY
Who should I spy, but a Spanish Lady
Washing her feet by the candlelight
First she washed them, then she dried them
Over a fire of amber coals
In all me life I ne'er did see, a maid so sweet about the soul
Chorus
Whack for the Too Rye Ooh Ray Lady,
Whack for the Too Ra Loo Ra Lay
As I came back through Dublin City at the hour of Half past Eight,
Who should I spy but the Spanish Lady,
brushing her hair in the broad daylight
First she brushed it , then she tossed it
On her lap was a silver comb
In all me life I ne'er did see, a maid so fair since I did roam.
Chorus
Whack for the Too Rye Ooh Ray Lady,
whack for the Too Rye Ooh Rye Aye
As I returned to Dublin City, as the sun began to set
Who should I spy but a Spanish lady
Catching a moth, in a golden net.
First she saw me, then she fled me
Lifted her petticoats over her knee
In all me life I ne'er did see, a maid so fair as the Spanish Lady
Chorus
Whack for the Too Rye Ooh Ray Lady,
whack for the Too Rye Ooh Rye Aye
I’ve wandered North, and I have wonder South
Through Stoney Batter and Patrick’s Close
Up and around, by the Gloucester Diamond
And back by Napper Tandys' house
Auld age has laid her hands on me
Cold as a fire of ashy coals....
But, there is the love of me Spanish Lady, a maid so sweet about the soul
Chorus
Whack for the Too Rye Ooh Ray Lady,
whack for the Too Rye Ooh Rye Aye
Chorus
Whack for the Too Rye Ooh Ray Lady,
whack for the Too Rye Ooh Rye Aye
