Sterling Silver Pendant with Celtic Trinity knot and a Green Agate Cabochon
This beautiful pendant reflects the mythology of Ireland. The Celtic knot symbol is also referred to as the mystic knot, or the endless knot. The Celtic Trinity Knot featured on this pendant is also called the Triquetra, is one of the most common of the knot ilk. The term Triquetra comes from Latin, and it means "three-cornered." There are several schools of thought when discussing the meaning of the Celtic trinity knot. All of the various interpretations agree on a culmination of thee parts.
Early Christian understanding views the symbols as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Celts were believed to see the knot as a symbol of natural forces: earth, air, and water. On a more spiritual level, it has also been known to symbolize life, death, and rebirth. All of the meanings basically boil down to one thing: three separate entities that are inter-connected.
