The musical production on Christmas Voices is one of big orchestra sound and rich symphonic feel. The tracks on the album range from the traditional carols Away in A Manger, Come All Ye Faithful and O Holy Night to the more contemporary Carribbean-style carol Mary’s Boy Child and pop classic Fairytale of New York. Like the song selection, the tempo of the album also ranges from slow and pensive in numbers such as Gabriel’s Message and Comfort Ye (Aria from Handel’s Messiah), building speed with the larger ensemble numbers Carol of the Bells, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and the medieval carol Gaudete (meaning joy in Latin). A wonderfully fast-paced arrangement of a new Christmas Medley (Sleigh Ride, Here Comes Santa Claus, The Parade Of The Wooden Soldiers, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, The Bells Of St. Mary's & I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus) brings together cherished Holiday favorites and delivers them with Celtic Thunder’s upbeat and unique interpretations of these seasonal classics.

It is with a very heavy heart that we pass on the most tragic news in Celtic Thunder.

George Donaldson, our beloved "gentle giant", husband, father, son, brother, colleague and very good friend suffered a massive heart attack last night and passed away long before his time, on Wednesday, 12th March 2014.

I can't tell you how devastated George's family and all of us in the Celtic Thunder family are.

Everyone is in deep shock, reeling from this sudden and tragic loss.

I beg of our fans and friends to respect our mourning and grieving during this difficult time, we would also ask you to hold off contacting the family, cast or crew directly during this period. We are all trying to come to terms with it, everyone is struggling to absorb the shock and deal with their feelings of loss.

We are setting up a memorial page for George on the CT site. The announcement is there, along with the opportunity for everyone to post their sympathies on the page. Here is the

Celtic Thunder MYTHOLOGY is the latest show from Celtic Thunder. Filmed on location at the Helix Theater in Dublin, it’s fitting that Celtic Thunder have chosen to return to their roots in order to film this musical odyssey.

The core theme of Mythology is found in the original opening number "Voices",  “Voices call from the old days, Voices tell from the past, Ancient laws and ancient old ways to recast.”  It’s the story of the Celtic People, their legends, their culture and their stories. It’s the lifeblood of modern day Celtic people everywhere and the influences from our Celtic past, which are still carried in each one of us as part of whom we are and where we come from. Voices, quoted above, is a collaboration between Celtic Thunder Musical Director/Composer David Munro and world-renowned song writer Brendan Graham, who also wrote the international hit “You Raise Me Up”.

The set of Mythology is big; it’s dramatic and imposing. The new and the old combine. Modern catalyst images are projected onto ancient monolithic standing stones, a giant Celtic cross takes center stage and the tempo of the music is strongly echoed in the theatrical and moody lighting.

Mythology is by far Celtic Thunder’s most impressive production to date, bar none. All six Celtic Thunder principals feature prominently in Mythology, from haunting solo numbers such as “Carrickfergus”,  “The Isle of Inisfree”, "Scarlet Ribbons", "Katie", "Carolina Rua"  and “Now We Free” to rousing ensembles “The Boys are Back in Town”, “The Star of the County Down” and “The Rocky Road to Dublin”. There are also great original tracks that were written especially for Mythology, such as the opening number Voices, as well as  “Hunter’s Moon” which is  performed in the show by Ryan Kelly. Celtic Thunder also perform a stunning anthem  “My Land”which is the show’s powerful finale.

Celtic Thunder MYTHOLOGY will air on Public Television across the USA in March 2013. The CD & DVD releases will be out on February 19th. They will be available in Walmart, Target, Costco, Barnes & Noble & Amazon.

The special Deluxe 2 Disc versions will only be available as pledge gifts from Public Television Stations or here on the Celtic Thunder website.
